Last week I shared our favorite lip colors for this Fall so that inspired me to go on the hunt for this season’s hottest nail polish colors. After searching high and low I have narrowed down my favorite shades to wear this Fall. I recently purchased the Queen of Hearts polish by Revlon. I am a big fan of the Colorstay Gel and its price! It goes on really well and stays put for an inexpensive polish. Their clear top coat is also amazing! Next on my list to try is Essie’s Angora Cardi and Lincoln Park at Midnight by OPI. If you haven’t noticed already I am pretty obsessed with the plum, mauve, and wine shades this year. The Angora Cardi is a beautiful dusty rose color that would look great on anyone. OPI’s Lincoln Park at Midnight is a bit darker, I think it would be perfect for a date night or cocktail party. A big trend this Fall are brown nails and Coco Suede by Laura Mercier is a great polish to buy if you want to try this trend. If a rich brown is too bold for you then try Deborah Lippmann’s Modern Love or Neutral Statement by Maybelline. These are two great neutral colors that would work for everyday and with anyone’s skin tone. Modern Love is a classic mauve polish that would be the perfect on its own or with a little nail art on top. If you’re looking for a similar color to Modern Love but at a less expensive price then Maybelline’s Neutral Statement is for you. Their polishes are very inexpensive and stay put for days. Can’t wait to share more of our favorite beauty trends for this Fall, so stay tuned for more!
Every girl needs a leather jacket in her closet. It is one item that you can own that will never go out of style. This is a staple piece to invest in and it will stand the test of time. Fit and quality are the two most important factors when choosing a leather jacket. You want a jacket that fits you impeccably and a color that you can wear with almost anything. Black or tan are safe choices because you can pair them with pretty much anything you already have in your closet. There are so many options out there when choosing a style so take your time to find one that fits your personal taste. It is a wardrobe essential in my opinion, from instantly adding a cool factor to a cocktail dress, edging up a feminine dress, or simply giving you the whole “I just threw this on” look with jeans and a t-shirt. You will get a lot of wear out of a leather jacket so think about the cost per wear measurement when deciding on how much you want to spend.
Nicole Miller killed it this season with her Quilted Leather Jacket! The subtle quilted chevron pattern adds texture and dimension to this sleek black jacket. The structured silhouette, mandarin collar, and double slider zipper makes this a unique piece. For the first look I paired this jacket with an amazing silk maxi skirt by Malene Birger and a Bella Dahl black t-shirt. Black and tan suede heels by Schutz and a sparkling bib necklace by Dannijo make this outfit perfect for date night. I love the cool, rocker vibe of this look. Ever since our trip to New York I am obsessed with everything black. This jacket elevates a simple t-shirt and skirt combo to a whole other level of chic.
Leather jackets and jeans are the perfect combination. Throw on a colorful silk blouse and you have a quick and pulled together look in no time. The quilted leather jacket adds some edge to this flowy Abstract Floral blouse by Waverly Grey and blue pair of Luxe Sateen J Brands. If you haven’t tried a pair of J Brand’s Luxe Sateen pants you are missing out! These are the most comfortable skinny jeans you will every try on. They are so soft and come in so many brilliant colors. This is an outfit you can mix and match so many different ways with what you already have in your closet and look fabulous!
A leather jacket over a cocktail dress is the epitome of cool. The Nicole Miller Baba Fringe Dress is instantly transformed from your typical sparkly cocktail dress into something edgier and cool. You can zip up this jacket to make the outfit more sleek and polished or leave it open with the sleeves rolled up for a more relaxed look. It is amazing how you can throw a leather jacket over a dress and completely change the feel of the outfit. I love the look of very feminine dresses with lace and ruffles juxtaposed with a more masculine and edgy leather jacket.
A leather jacket is definitely a must have this fall and winter for your closet. Don’t be afraid to choose one with embellishments, texture, fur, or color – let your personality show through the jacket. Make sure you find a professional leather cleaner to keep it looking nice, but a little wear will make it look even better over time.
I want to take a moment to introduce you to the newest member of our team and our Beauty Editor, Erin McEachin. She is a hair stylist and colorist at Panache Creative Hair Salon in Florence, SC. She currently lives in Florence with her husband, FitzLee and her dog Pax. Erin received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Clemson University and then went on to the Betty Stevens Cosmetology School to continue her education in a creative field. She has been with Panache for almost 5 years now and really enjoys that she can make people feel their best with the right hairstyle and color. Her love of fashion and design make her an asset to our team because no outfit is complete without fabulous hair!
For her first styling post Erin has decided to show us some of her favorite products to help you achieve this amazing Grecian Goddess updo that we showed on Instagram yesterday. She is a big fan of big sexy hair products and these three that she has picked to share with you today are simply amazing! Spray & Stay by big sexy hair is a great hairspray for updos that you want to stay in place all night long. Spray & Play by big sexy hair is a more workable hairspray that doesn’t leave your strands hard and crunchy. Its a great product for styling where you need more movement. The light scent of these hairsprays won’t leave you dizzy afterward. H2NO, a new product by big sexy hair, is a dry shampoo that smells great and gives a lot of added volume and texture to anyones hair. The tools you will need for this updo are bobby pins, hair clips, nylon bristle brush, 1 inch curling iron, and a tail comb. You will want a brush that is specifically made for smoothing for this updo.
Start with a center part and grab hair for the braid section by zig zagging approximately 2 inches of hair all the way to the nape of the neck. Pin the remaining hair back while you braid each side. Erin chose to do an inverted braid following the hairline closely to keep it tight. An inverted braid is similar to a French Braid, only you pass the strands under each other as opposed to over.
After you’ve finished braiding, secure both braids with a hair tie at the nape of the neck, creating a tiny pony tail.
Pull at the strands of the braid to give it a more full look and thicker braid. (This is a great tip for ladies with fine hair and tiny braids!) Unclip the rest of the hair and spray with a flexible hold hairspray before you begin curling. This is also a great time to spray your locks with a heat protectant to keep them healthy!
Section the unbraided hair and curl to give some bend and body.
Lightly spray sections of the curled hair with dry shampoo as you tease them. Teasing this part of the updo will give you the volume needed to add a little or a lot of poof. Take the tail comb and start half way up the section of hair and then backcomb. It will look like a tangled mess, but trust me that means you’re doing it right.
Continue teasing in half inch sections until you have reached the top. Don’t be afraid to over tease, you can always smooth it down to the desired volume. After its teased you can begin pinning the bottom sections with bobby pins close to the rubber band at the nape of your neck.
Continue to pin and smooth the hair section by section until it is all pinned at the nape of your neck. You can change the volume of your bump by smoothing the hair more or less.
Spray the hair generously for extra hold with hairspray. Use the tail comb to shape the updo.
Pin the end of the hair up in a bun at the base of your neck to finish the look. If you have short hair, you might want to add extra hair pieces. Even if your hair is long, the teasing can take up a lot of the length and fullness so you may need to add hair pieces depending on the size of the bun you desire.
Spray the entire updo with extra hold hairspray so your hair will stay in place all night long!

One of our favorite trends this season is the trippy prints that were seen all over the runways for Fall 2014. Bold and bright retro 60’s and 70’s psychedelic prints are everywhere and are actually very easy to wear. Stick to choosing one piece that will be the statement so that your look doesn’t get too busy. A statement printed blouse like the Crystal 2 Top by Trina Turk is a great way to dip your toes into this trend. The bold orange and fuchsia in such a fun mixed geometric print make this blouse really stand out. The blouse looks more relaxed by tying it in the front and rolling up the sleeves. We kept with the retro vibe and paired the top with a flared jean in gray by J Brand and some suede heels. A bright red pair of Kendra Scott studs finish this look by adding another pop of color. You can also wear this blouse to the office with a great pencil skirt and blazer, just let the blouse be the standout piece. A classic clutch by Rebecca Minkoff in Latte is a neutral handbag that will go with anything!
You will turn heads when you walk into the room wearing the Nanette Lepore Handloom Shift Dress. The magnificent print in pink and teal match perfectly with this amazing bib necklace by Megan Park. This look is minimal, but will certainly be one everyone will remember. This is a dress that you can style so many different ways and wear to so many different events. Throw on a pair of boots and a vest for a cute, day look or wear it with a blazer for the office.
This Fall don’t be afraid to reach for these brightly colored pieces to spice up your wardrobe. You can wear them just as you would wear your typical Fall colors and with them.
This wonderful chill in the air means one thing, its leather weather. A fabulous leather moto jacket is a closet staple for just about everyone and slowly, but surely another leather piece has been gaining popularity among wardrobes. Leather pants, or leggings have become the new cold weather staple because they are so versatile. They are an investment piece for sure, but you will get just as much wear out of them as you do your favorite leather jacket. A simple, slim fitting style is the easiest to wear in either a black or brown color. Make sure they fit properly because leather will stretch over time so you want them to be snug, but you don’t need to go down a size. The quality of the leather will determine the durability of the piece so you want to make sure you spend your money on a high quality pair that will last a long time. Don’t forget you need to find a professional cleaner that specializes in leather so you can extend the life of your pants.
You can style your leather leggings with just about anything like you would a pair of jeans or leggings. I’ve got four looks to show you to give you some ideas that will show you how truly versatile these amazing By Malene Birger Leather Leggings look with just about any top. For the first outfit we kept things simple and neutral by pairing the leggings with a casual By Malene Birger turtleneck, Rebecca Minkoff booties, and a Trina Turk crossbody. We even added another touch of leather with these fun Megan Park earrings. This outfit is a great go to look for busy days or traveling. You can even add a sweater or blazer for an extra layer on colder days.
Here’s a great look that rocks two of Fall’s biggest trends, leather and fur! This extraordinary fur vest by Elizabeth and James was meant to be paired with the leather pants. A simple long sleeved shirt by Elliot Lauren was the perfect backdrop for the vest and the length is perfect for leggings. This boho-chic look is another great outfit for the day to meet friends for lunch in or go shopping. The Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Affair bag is the perfect size to carry all your necessities in and still be lightweight. The strap is adjustable so you can wear it like a cross body or on your shoulder. I used the Alex booties by Rebecca Minkoff again to keep with the earthy tones of this outfit.
Leather leggings can also be work appropriate with the right blouse and shoes. I paired a Nanette Lepore textured cream blouse with a longer hemline and a fabulous pair of suede Schutz heels to dress up the pants. This tribal printed vest by Nell is the perfect addition to this outfit to give it some structure and more texture. The colors combine so nicely and really makes me feel like its Fall. A slouchy leather bag like this one by Raoul is perfect for work and running to meetings.
The last look I want to share with you is the ultimate chic and comfortable outfit. A cashmere poncho, like this one by Allude, with the leather leggings is the absolute perfect match. Its such a simple look but you will standout among a crowd. I accented the sweater with a gold and leather necklace by Megan Park, Rebecca Minkoff booties, and an amazing python clutch by Malene Birger. You could wear this anywhere and to anything. Just swap the boots out for heels for the night and you are good to go!
Don’t forget to find a professional cleaner that specializes in leather for a pair like this. You can extend the life of them by having them cleaning properly and get your money out of this investment piece! Can’t wait to show you more ways to style leather pants this season!
Bold, berry stained lips are one of the biggest beauty trends this Fall and I cannot wait to try it out! The deep wine colors from Bordeaux to Maroon create such powerful pouts that look fabulous on anyone. Rebecca Minkoff’s models walked the runway with saturated oxblood colored lips. The lip color paired beautifully with the collection’s colors and masculine silhouettes. I love how they kept the models faces light and fresh so the focus was on the lips. A fresh, bare face is the key to pulling off this magnificent lip color so that the lips standout without looking overdone. Keep your blush and eyeshadow minimal so that they don’t compete with your lip color.
The berry colored pouts at Zimmermann were the perfect compliment to the darker colors of the collection. I absolutely loved how the models all had their hair pulled up away from the face to really showcase their makeup. If these colors intimidate you, you can always tone it down by dabbing a small amount on your lips to create a stain and then you can gradually darken them to your liking.
Kate Bosworth and Rihanna have been sporting berry lips this season and I must say they look amazing! I love how versatile this color is on any skin tone. In fact the darker your skin is the darker the shade of berry you can use.
Here are my top five picks for the perfect plum pout this Fall:
Today I am stealing a page from Olivia Palermo’s style book for this outfit. I mean this lady can do no wrong when it comes to styling. Her latest look that has everyone buzzing showcased how you can still wear shorts in cold weather and look chic. Tweed or embellished shorts are perfect for this look like these gold embroidered ones by Waverly Grey. I love the all black look Olivia chose and stuck with a similar color to the gold shorts for the sweater. The metallic leopard spots on this By Malene Birger sweater flow with the metallic gold shorts. I opted for booties with this outfit instead of the over the knee style Olivia wore. These Alex booties by Rebecca Minkoff are easier to wear and I love how the gold accents tie back to the rest of the outfit. Although I love how Olivia’s over the knee boots cover most of her legs, leaving only a little skin showing which would keep you warm and balances the outfit. Keeping with the neutral color scheme I chose a quilted Rebecca Minkoff bag in a mauve color. The Megan Park necklace is an unexpected pop of color and glitz. I can see myself wearing this outfit on days like today where its still warm so I wouldn’t need a jacket or tights. When the temperatures do drop more I would definitely add a pair of tights for more coverage and texture.
The color gray is everywhere this Fall and I am loving it, especially paired with this light, pastel pink. Pastels are huge for the Fall, which means you can get more wear out of your blouses from the Spring. Don’t you just love when you can transition pieces from one season to the next? I sure do! Rebecca Minkoff certainly nailed this color combination this season with her amazing jackets! First let me talk about her fabulous Ryan bomber jacket that is sporty and feminine at the same time. The tweed jacket has herringbone printed sleeves and pink accents on the collar, cuffs, and hem. You can throw this on with pretty much anything. I love pairing it with a sleek BCBGMaxazria pencil skirt and Zoa blouse to edge up your typical office wear. Sticking with the this vibe I added some edgy accessories like these Megan Park Floret earrings and BCBGMaxazria Minna metal clutch.
The Wes Moto Jacket is a flirty new take on your basic leather jacket with perforated blush colored leather. This soft color makes this piece more wearable by toning down the biker vibe. If you’re looking to invest in a leather jacket, this would be the piece for you. It is one that you could wear all year round, even in the summer since the color is so light. For Fall I decided to style this jacket with a simple french terry knit dress by Trina Turk. The form fitting dress is the perfect backdrop for this amazing jacket, Schutz heels, and Nanette Lepore bag.
Rebecca Minkoff nailed the definition of ladylike with the Finley coat. The light gray fabric mixed with accents of soft pink on the back, under the collar, and the lining make this coat look sophisticated and polished. A simple front zipper closure and two pockets blend nicely into the structured silhouette. I continued the gray theme by adding knee-high gray heeled boots by Malene Birger. This minimalist look is equal parts subtle and striking.
Gray is quickly becoming my favorite color this Fall and is so easy to wear with all my go to pieces. Stay tuned to see other ways I plan on styling this chic color this season!
BCBGMaxazria is a contemporary women’s clothing brand founded by the infamous Max Azria. In 1989 he launched his dream of a design house that spoke to the modern woman. It is named for the French phrase “bon chic, bon genre” meaning “good style, good attitude”. He began with the simple idea to create a beautiful dress and now they are one of America’s leading design houses. Azria’s wife, Lubov, joined BCBG Max Azria as a pattern maker and today serves as the brand’s Chief Creative Officer. She leads the company’s design team and oversees the marketing and merchandising for the brand. Lubov and Max make a great team, she says he’s more of the visionary while she is more detail oriented. Their collections span evening, cocktail dresses, sportswear separates, handbags, small leather goods and licensed outerwear, footwear, hats and swimwear. Designs are focused on fit, construction, and fabrication and each piece represents the luxury, visionary viewpoint and integrity of the brand itself. The brand embodies a true combination of European sophistication and American spirit. BCBG offers incredible designer fashion at affordable price points for everyone. This is something that earned Azria a spot in the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Some of my favorite pieces in my closet are BCBGMaxazria and I love how timeless they are.
The Fall 2014 Collection was heavily inspired by the landscapes and scenery of Lousiana and the bayou. Lubov Azria says, “the juxtaposition of reflections, water and sky inspired the blues and natural tones in the Fall 2014 collection. Collection colors include warm neutrals and greys offset with rich terracotta and cool blue”. The sihoulettes in this collection are strongly influenced by those of the 1940s and 1950s.
Tunisian Dreams would be the two words to describe the Resort 2015 Collection. Azria was greatly influenced by his native land, Tunisia, when designing these pieces. The collection consisted of embroidered floral motif tunics, graphic caftans and outfits inspired by the Hammamet towel material.
The Spring 2015 Collection had a very laid back, bohemian vibe with pastel hues and prints. The muted patterns and sun bleached pastels hues were inspired by a recent trip Lubov Azria had to ABC Carpet & Home while she was looking through a stack artisanal rugs.
