Mosaic Florence

March 2, 2018

Welcome to Mosaic Florence! It was such an amazing (and lets be honest…a little stressful at times) journey designing this space from scratch but we are thrilled with the results and can’t wait to share them with you!

I wanted everything to be very white, bright and clean so the clothes could do the talking. It is amazing to see how much color pops against a white back drop. I have always wanted to use our look book photos in another way besides just on social media and the website. I picked several of my favorite shots from past shoots with Angela Zion and framed them above each rack in the store.

The building is over 100 years old and I wanted to keep some old aspects intact. There was a fire in the building many years ago and most of the exposed brick was not in great shape but we were able to keep 2 sections of it showing and framed them off with racks.

One of my favorite parts of the store are the dressing rooms. I wanted them to be large and spacious and a space that really feels comfortable for customers. I chose a geometric wallpapers in two different colors and I was ecstatic with how they turned out. They definitely scream, “sit and stay a while.”

Behind the checkout counter we have two commissioned art pieces done by one of my best friends Morgan Elvington Walker (Melvin G). We picked the color palette to compliment the store and she even designed the accessories on these girls after designs we have had in the store.

We just launched Mini Mosaic and have a small adorable section dedicated just to children’s clothing featuring designs by Zimmermann, Stella McCartney and Rylee and Cru.

All of my fabulous light fixtures came from Saleeby Jean Interiors in Greenville which is owned by one of my great college friends Dixie Dulin. I also got my wallpaper from her! I have some pretty talented friends 🙂

Next is the dramatic before and after pictures. It is hard to believe that the space ever looked like the top picture but it really was exhilarating getting to design my dream store from scratch.  I couldn’t have done it without the help of many many people! M3 Renovations handled all of my contractor needs and were fabulous.

If you are ever in town please stop by and see us!! We are located at 178 West Evans Street in Florence and also have another location at 113 West Main Street in Lake City.

Hello NYFW

September 10, 2015

“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future….this is known as fashion week.” -Carrie Bradshaw

Bright eyed and bushy tailed, we arrived in the Big Apple this morning for the start of New York Fashion Week! It’s hard to describe the energy surrounding fashion week but it is exhilarating and something we look forward to every season! We kicked off the day at the BCBG show. This show always opens fashion week and has an impressive guest list. We have been eager to see what trends are going to be big for Spring 2016 and some that jumped out to us at BCBG were 1. Huge 70’s vibe 2. Pastel palettes 3. Lots of embroidery and texture.

bcbgrunwayBelow are three of the looks we loved from the show!

bcbglooksAfter the show we headed straight to showroom appointments. Our first was with Eileen Fisher. This will be a new line for Mosaic and is the epitome of sophistication and togetherness. This line appeals to all ages and features silhouettes that would flatter any figure. Her Spring collection also featured a very neutral palette with pops of pastels through out.

eileenWe then arrived at Fashionhaus to view one of our favorites, By Malene Birger. Her collection featured gorgeous lace and eyelet and every piece had amazing texture. The collection featured some metallic touches as well as pops of tangerine.

bmbrackNo one does a scarf quite like by Malene Birger so we were thrilled to see so many prints and patterns to choose from.

bmborangeThe rest of the day consisted of viewing A.L.C., Equipment and Current Elliott as well as a new shoe line you all are going to FLIP over! We can’t wait to let you know what designer it is but trust us, it will be worth the wait!

While we were busy perusing Ready-to-Wear collections, part of the Mosaic team headed to Brooklyn to scout out something different. Later this Fall we will be introducing a specially curated home selection! We have brought on our trusted friend and talented home decor expert, Erin McEachin, to put together and find the best and most special selection for you all. Through out this next several days she will be visiting some amazing showrooms as well as visiting some of New York City and Brooklyn’s best vintage shops. We have no doubt she will find some amazing one of a kind finds for you all!

Nothing was more perfect for Erin to wear for a day in Brooklyn than the Equipment Mina Dress. Its easy, fun and flowy silhouette make it the perfect running around dress. Get the last one of these dresses here!

Jingle Jingle, Come and Mingle

December 23, 2014

This past weekend my husband and I hosted a festive Christmas Party at our house! Since we both have our own businesses, and can be a little MIA when it comes to social functions, we decided early in November that we wanted to have a little get together for our family and friends. It is so easy to get caught up in day to day life and we don’t get to see our family and friends nearly enough, so we were both thrilled about the party! We wanted it to be a dressy and festive evening so the first step was designing an invitation that went a long with that theme. I called my friend Danielle Nance, who owns Noteworthy Concepts and has a plethora of amazing invitation lines including Arzberger and Haute Papier. I opted for classic ivory card stock with gold letter pressed foiled and a very fun lime green lining. They arrived packaged so beautifully I almost hated to open the box!

I wanted to keep the decorations for my house simple! I used a lot of smilax on the mantles and had candles everywhere! I love the ambiance a candlelight room creates!

We had a local restaurant, Starfire, cater and they did a fabulous job. Our favorite was the sesame seared tuna. Needless to say, there wasn’t a bit left at the end of the night!

All in all, it was a wonderful evening with the people that mean the most to us! Out sweet pup, Deacon, didn’t get to join in on the fun but once the party was over I brought him out for one last photo opt! Merry Christmas everyone!!

Gray, Fuchsia, and Orange

October 8, 2014

Several days ago, we posted about the amazing Trina Turk Frea pant. It features a beautiful Fall floral that has the most perfect color combination of gray, fuchsia, and orange! I started really thinking about this color palette and how drawn to it I was. When it comes to my house, I tend to sway towards a more neutral palette. However, I love to bring color in with my rugs. I realized after writing the blog, that my favorite rug in my house has this color combination!! I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what interiors I could find that featured this vivid yet amazing color combo. I was blown away at the creative and unique ways people had incorporated these colors into their homes. Here a just a small selection of the ones I found that I love.

Some of the rooms featured a clean crisp background with pops of orange and fuchsia while others decked the rooms out head to toe in these bright colors. I loved them all! Anyone that knows me well, knows that I have a bit of a pillow problem. My husband claims I am a “pillow addict”, and I can’t really disagree! I love pillows and think they are a great way to bring in color without over doing it!

If you are skeptical or using bright colors in your home, another great way besides pillows is a great rug or an accent wall covered in awesome wallpaper. I absolutely love a great turkish rug and think they can do wonders for brightening up a room. If you live in South Carolina or close by, there is an amazing place called Scarlett’s that has beautiful antiques and an unbelievable rug room. That’s right, I said ROOM! I have found some really cool turkish rugs for my house there and for great prices!

I also stumbled across some gorgeous table settings using these colors. Tell me you wouldn’t want to sit and stay a while at this table!!
