A mustard golden hue is one of my absolute favorite colors! I was thrilled to see it present in so many of the Fall 2014 runway collections and am even more excited that the items are starting to arrive in store! I also am a huge fan of gold accents for the home! All in all, I love a gold rush!!
A couple of weeks ago I gave y’all a recap of my recent time in Raleigh and at the School of Styling. During our time there, Emily March Payne (an extremely talented and sweet photographer), captured all of the details of the workshop including our own personal creations. They included our floral bouquet and our table setting. I just received these pictures back and had to share with you all!! Also, at the end of this post you will see the 2 dates and locations for the School of Styling events in 2015. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone!! It was such an amazing experience! You can find out more information here. Thanks Emily for capturing our work in such a beautiful way!
Several months ago while scrolling through my Instagram feed I stumbled upon The School of Styling’s page. What caught my eye was their beautiful logo, and as I was browsing their collection of posts I saw that they were having their first workshop at the beginning of August. It was going to be held just up the road from me in Raleigh, NC. After briefly visiting their website I knew I had to find a way to attend this event. After several days of thinking it through I decided to take the plunge and sign up…..and boy am I glad that I did! A couple weeks ago I packed my bags and headed to Raleigh for the workshop. I won’t lie, I was a little nervous about who I would meet and what I would learn, but overall I was extremely excited about the opportunity. I started my first day in Raleigh very early at Heat Studios. Heat stands for Highly Effective Athletic Training and focuses on high intensity interval training. It was, by far, one of the hardest cardio workouts I have ever done. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Raleigh area that is looking to torch some major calories!!
The School of Styling workshop was held at the historic Merrimon-Wynne house. It was absolutely breathtaking! The house was built in 1897 and features 15 foot ceilings! I immediately called my husband and told him I had found our dream house…he just laughed! These pictures do not do the house justice but I tried to capture the beauty of this awesome place as best as I could.
Tired of your boring, old gray pant suit that you’ve worn for years now? Trousers in bold colors and striking prints are the perfect way to spice up your office wardrobe this summer. You can breathe life back in to your work wardrobe with the simple addition of a new pair of pants. Lightweight fabrics like silk are great for the office because they transition well from one temperature to the next. I love how comfortable and flattering these trousers are that are pictured.
These Trina Turk palazzo pants are a fabulous twist on the basic black pant! The side zip and flared leg make the silhouette super flattering. You can keep the look simple with a black t-shirt or dress it up with a blouse in a coordinating color. Striped trousers are a must have this summer and these 10 Crosby Wide Leg trousers are amazing! Styled with a great pair of heels they will give anyone the illusion of having legs for days! The Alice and Olivia Super Wide Flared leg pant are a bold choice that will definitely make a statement when you walk in the office. No more Monday blues when you put these on! Finally, I have saved the best for last…these by Malene Birger Pantas Pants are to die for! The color, the print, and the sihlouette are so major! I can’t get over how much I love these pants. If you love skinny jeans then you will adore these pants. You could wear these to the office and then swap out the shoes and top for something edgier for an ultra chic night look.
This past weekend my husband and I hosted our supper club. Through out the year a different couple hosts every month. I was thrilled when I found out we would be hosting in May because the weather is still mild and flowers are in full bloom. We decided early on we would set up the dinner table on our back porch because it is one of our favorite areas in the house. I wanted the dinner to be casual and comfortable but special at the same time. With hydrangeas in full bloom, I knew I wanted them to be the centerpieces of my table. Luckily, I have a very gracious mother-in-law who has a yard full and told me to help myself.
When I saw all of the gorgeous full blooms in her yard I was in heaven! It was like I was in the garden of never ending hydrangeas. Even after I filled the back of my car it looked like I hadn’t touched the bushes.
Needless to say, I got more than I needed for just the table but I knew of many many places through out my house where they would look perfect! I had a blast prepping the flowers and getting them into arrangements. Side note – Some of you may know this already but for those of you who don’t it will change your life. My mom taught me an amazing trick on how to get flowers to sit perfectly in a vase. You wrap a rubber band around the base of the flowers and it holds them perfectly in place! Try it next time you make an arrangement!
Another great tip for all you Nest candle lovers out there…after you burn a candle all the way down clean the remaining wax out with some very hot water and soap and you will be left with a beautiful vase. I have been saving mine for a while now and they come in very handy for a dinner party.
Now that I had all of the flowers ready to go it was time to figure out where all I could put them in my house. I found about every available spot and stuck a pretty arrangement! I probably went a little overboard but when it comes to hydrangeas, more is always better!
A mosaic is a work of art created by assembling beautiful pieces of brightly colored materials, such as glass, metals or stone, to create an image. Mosaic is an upscale contemporary women’s boutique that draws its inspiration from the fundamental lesson communicated by these pictures made from bits and pieces — that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. Whether you’re assembling a single outfit or an entire wardrobe, we can help you find just the right pieces and make sure they work together to create the image you want to project. Read more....
