We got right to work this morning viewing Spring 2015 collections. We started at 10 Crosby Derek Lam. The collection focused on a predominantly neutral color palette and featured an abundance of beautiful pleating. My favorites included a whimsical romper and a belted trench cut from washed linen silk in a beautiful shade of agave blue.
I was also smitten with their shoe collection. There were 3 styles that I was particularly drawn to and they were all styles that are practical and shoes I would live in. I am already looking forward to these styles coming in.
A quick pit stop at Shake Shack was one of the highlights of the day. I am going to go out on a limb and say it is one of the best burgers I have ever had. I always look forward to eating there! Not to mention, they have crinkle fries!!
After lunch, we headed to Sachin + Babi. This is one of my favorite designers so I was very excited to see what they had in store for Spring 2015. It was one of their most beautiful collections to date! The embellishments and embroidery were out of this world.
It is going to be really hard narrowing down the line but these were some of my favorites from the Ready to Wear collection. Spring 2015 Trend ALERT……Mesh and fringe are going to be everywhere!
Sachin + Babi also has an evening line called Noir and the pieces are phenomenal! These were my picks!
Next up was Raoul! My head was spinning at this point! How beautiful is this color palette featuring fuschia and tangerine! This collection had a very pop art feel. At this point in the day I realized another big trend for Spring 2015 is going to be midi length skirts. I love how romantic this length is and I think it works for a variety of ages and body types.
Raoul also had a killer selection of handbags. I am a sucker for any type of exotic skin!!
Our last stop was Trina Turk. I had never been to her showroom in the Meatpacking District and it was quite a treat. It was just as colorful and cheery as you would think it would be! Viewing her Spring 2015 collection was a great way to end the day!
These were my favorite looks!
Tomorrow’s appointment include Rachel Zoe, Nicole Miller, Equipment and we will be viewing new lines A.L.C, Elle Sasson and Tanya Taylor! We can’t wait to fill y’all in on what we see!
After an amazing nights rest, I woke up refreshed and ready for day 2 in New York City. I started the day at the fhitting room, a High Intensity Training boutique fitness studio delivering a comprehensive, body-changing workout in a small class environment. It was an amazing work out that I know torched a ton of calories and it flew by! I am hoping to get to another class before the trip is over.
During the afternoon, we headed back to the Lincoln Center for Mara Hoffman’s Spring 2015 runway show. Her show is always one of my favorites and it didn’t disappoint. I had been looking for an excuse to snag this Mara Long Maxi skirt and I knew this would be the perfect chance to wear it! I paired it with a BCBG fitted top and a Rebecca Minkoff bag.
It was hard to narrow it down but these are some of my favorites from the presentation.
We headed to Hakkasan for dinner. It was my second visit and it was delicious. We had the Cod topped with truffles, the Wagyu beef tenderloin and jasmine rice. The cocktails were out of this world. We sipped on the Green Destiny(vodka, cucumber, kiwi and apple juice) and a passion fruit puree and prosecco bellini!
We arrived bright an early in the city this morning and man has it been a great first day! We had appointments scheduled as soon as we arrived so I opted for a comfortable ensemble that I knew would travel well and that I could wear straight to the showrooms. I chose my uber comfortable J Brand skinny’s and a flannel Elizabeth and James top. I finished the outfit off with my new favorites, the Rebecca Minkoff Seta sneaker!
Our first stop was By Malene Birger and what a way to start! She never dissapoints and always sets a high standard for market. Her Spring 2015 collection was filled with beautiful embellishments and lots of fringe, fringe, fringe.
After the appointment it was time to freshen up and head to the Lincoln Center for our first presentation. I chose this embroidered Elizabeth and James dress with Gianvito Rossi booties. It was the perfect choice because the dress was very comfortable and even though it has a sleeve it is lightweight and cool.
I accessorized with Dannijo earrings and a House of Harlow clutch.
Trina Turk was our first presention and it was just as bright and cheery as you would expect. It had a very retro feel and these were some of my favorite looks.
We worked up quite the appetite after a day full of appointments and shows so we headed to Koi for a delicious dinner. I frequent Koi everytime I am in the city and it gets better each time!!
A couple of weeks ago I gave y’all a recap of my recent time in Raleigh and at the School of Styling. During our time there, Emily March Payne (an extremely talented and sweet photographer), captured all of the details of the workshop including our own personal creations. They included our floral bouquet and our table setting. I just received these pictures back and had to share with you all!! Also, at the end of this post you will see the 2 dates and locations for the School of Styling events in 2015. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone!! It was such an amazing experience! You can find out more information here. Thanks Emily for capturing our work in such a beautiful way!
Each month we will be spotlighting a designer that we carry in house at Mosaic. It only seemed appropriate to start with one of my favorite jewelry lines, Dannijo. Jodie and Danielle Snyder are the founders and co-designers behind this amazing brand. They grew up in Florida but now reside in New York where all of their jewelry is handcrafted.
One of my favorite designs is their bib necklaces. They are all so unique and the detail is ridiculous. I could literally have one of every single bib they have designed. Their bibs have quite the following. Just check out #putabibonit on Instagram and you will see how many loyal fans they have and how many people are as obsessed as I am with their bib necklaces.
They have also branched out and created some cool accessories. They have some of the neatest iphone covers out there. They have also branched out into handbags and are about to design a shoe line!
Here are a few images from one of their lookbooks! Just breathtaking!
Below are some of the piece we have in stock now at Mosaic! You can shop our entire collection here!
Simply put, I love an awards show! It doesn’t matter which one, there is something about seeing all of the stars glammed up that just excites me! It doesn’t get much better than snuggling on the couch with a glass of wine and watching gorgeous gowns sweep the red carpet. My husband obviously doesn’t agree with that last statement but last night I was able to con him into watching some of it with me. He did get to see one of his favorite shows, Breaking Bad, win EVERYTHING so it wasn’t as painful for him as it could have been.
I must say, there were some beautiful gowns last night! It was hard to narrow down a list of favorites but the following looks topped my list. Orange and reds were very prevalent and I loved seeing this being that is one of my favorite hues to wear! Sarah Hyland (left) from Modern family looked adorable in a cropped top and ball skirt by Christian Siriano. I thought this was the perfect choice for her. It is young and fun yet very stylish and sophisticated at the same time. Heidi Klum literally can do no wrong! She stunned in a Zac Posen sleek gown. There isn’t much else to say other than she looked AMAZING!
I can’t decide who looked better, Behati or Adam(left)? Maybe it is them together that I love! This isn’t a gown I thought she would have chosen but I love the understated elegance of it. I am not a big fan usually of guys wearing shades on the red carpet but lets just be honest, Adam’s got it! Not very many people were talking about Kate Walsh’s bright yellow gown by Stephane Rolland, but I thought she was glowing and it was a perfect choice for her!
If you were to look up poise and grace in the dictionary, Michelle Dockery’s (left) picture would be beside both words. There is just something about her that oozes sophistication. The accent doesn’t hurt either. I liked that her Rosie Assoulin gown was unexpected and unique. I might not have liked it on someone else but I thought she pulled it off impeccably. Does anyone else just want to squeeze Julianne Hough(right)? I just love her and her bubbly personality! I really liked her structured DSquared gown and the way she styled her bob!
I have to be honest, I did not see this coming! I think Camila Alves always looks good but I was blown away by her in this Zuhair Murad gown. I didn’t even notice what Matthew was wearing! The nude and ivory pattern against her olive skin and dark hair was exquisite! I think the simple accessories were a great choice considering the busy pattern of the dress. All in all, she was my favorite from the night!
Every year our favorite celebs travel to the South of France to view some of the biggest films of the season. But for many of us, it isn’t the films being debuted and the awards being presented that get our attention. It is the extravagant and over the top red carpet gowns that leave our jaws dropped and have us day dreaming of what it must be like to be a part of such a luxurious film festival in such a beautiful place.
Over the past year I have become very selective about what items I purchase to add to my wardrobe. I like to add pieces that will with stand the test of time and will remain a staple in my closet. Nothing is worse than buying an item and only wearing it once. I have always loved and been a sucker for great prints. Recently though I have tried to buy less prints because I tend to get tired of them and many times you can’t wear them very often because they are so memorable. However, sometimes a print comes a long and I just can’t live with out it! One other thing I am drawn to and usually can’t resist is a cape. So it was no surprise a couple months ago when a Mara Hoffman leopard cape arrived that I did celebratory laps around the store! I knew I had to have it regardless of how many times I wore it!
A mosaic is a work of art created by assembling beautiful pieces of brightly colored materials, such as glass, metals or stone, to create an image. Mosaic is an upscale contemporary women’s boutique that draws its inspiration from the fundamental lesson communicated by these pictures made from bits and pieces — that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. Whether you’re assembling a single outfit or an entire wardrobe, we can help you find just the right pieces and make sure they work together to create the image you want to project. Read more....
