Bold & Bright

November 6, 2014

Colder weather doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice color this season!  One of my favorite trends this season is brightly colored bags that spice up any outfit.  Rebecca Minkoff, hands down has some of the best and most affordable leather handbags around.  She has so many styles and colors to choose from so you can get one that fits your personality.  The Leo Clutch in Ultraviolet is a fabulous little bag to take with you on a date or to a party.  It will hold your essentials without weighing you down.  I love the zipper detailing along the edges of the envelope shaped bag.  This would be a great gift for the upcoming Holiday season and it comes in so many colors!

The Bowery Crossbody in this bright blue color has got to be one of the most beautiful bags I have seen this season.  The contrasting black hardware gives the bag some serious edge and it is the perfect size to just throw on and go.

A pop of Hot Orange is just what you need to warm up any outfit this winter.  The Mini Quilted Affair bag is such a classic bag and the brilliant color gives it a twist.  The adjustable chain strap allows you to wear it as a crossbody or on your shoulder at different lengths.  This little bag would make another amazing gift for someone special this Christmas.  Keep checking our blog for more perfect gift ideas this season!

Behind the Scenes

November 4, 2014

We’ve been super busy these past few weeks prepping for our Fall 2014 Lookbook shoot and I can’t believe its already over!  Sunday was a full day of hair, make up, and styling to get the right looks for each photo.  We wanted to share a little peek of what it takes to get these amazing shots that you see us use on our website and more.  Weeks before the shoot we began searching for inspiration online and in magazines of what kind of shots we wanted and how we wanted to style the hair, make up and clothes.  You can check out our Inspiration Board on our Pinterest page to see the photos that influenced our looks. We knew we wanted to go in a different direction than we have normally done for our lookbooks, something more edgy, sleek, and dark.  For the makeup we chose to go for a more dramatic look with darker shadows, lots of lashes, and berry stained lips.  We kept the hair sleek and straight mostly with an edgier vibe.  Since it is Fall we had a lot of darker colors to work with in the clothing so it was perfect to achieve the look we were going for. We shot at the beautiful Moore Farms Botanical Gardens located right here in Lake City. This is the third time we have shot here, and it never disappoints. The gardens literally change on a weekly basis so there is always a new gorgeous backdrop.

Our amazing makeup artist Cory King captured our vision with smokey eyes, lots of liner and lashes and darker lips.  One of our models, Erin McEachin did double duty by also styling all of the hair for the shoot.  She kept the hair sleek and straight mostly to go along with the edgier vibe of the looks.

It truly takes a team to make a shoot like this run smoothly and we couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with!  Angela Cox always captures the perfect moments and her photos are breathtaking.  She really knows how to make the clothing shine.  Our fabulous models are a huge part of making our shoots successful, they even help out when they’re not in the photos to make sure we get the best shot possible.

Kris Meade is our videographer and he is simply outstanding.  He always has the most high tech gadgets and techniques when we see him and this time he brought his drone with him to video some of the looks.  Here’s a sneak peak of the drone flying about our models for one of the shots.  Can’t wait to see the finished video and to share it with you!

Angela shared several finished shots with us and we are dying to see the rest!

We had a blast putting this lookbook together and we hope you have enjoyed this sneak peek!  Stay tuned for more pictures and for the finished lookbook and video to arrive!

Writers in the Round

October 31, 2014

Last night I attended the second annual Writers in the Round event at the Bean Market in Lake City, SC.  This kind of event is very rare for our area and I will tell you why. Typically a writers in the round event is comprised of the music industries best writers sitting around, telling how a song came about, and then singing it. These events normally happen in areas that have a thriving music industry, like Nashville for instance. If anyone reading this is a fan of the television show Nashville, then you are definitely familiar with the Bluebird Cafe. It has become on of the most famous writers in the round establishments. Night after night, they have amazing line ups comprised of some of country music’s most legendary writers. Tickets go on sale for each night and are literally gone within minutes! My husband and I were lucky enough to snag some tickets on a trip to Nashville earlier this year. My husband is a HUGE country music fan, so he was obviously very excited. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but we were both blown away! Just witnessing these talented writers talk about their inspiration and what certain songs mean to them was so moving! We ended our night at the Bluebird cafe listening to writer Mark Sanders sing a little song you may know that he wrote called “I hope you Dance.”  It is one of my all time favorite country songs and it was SO cool to hear the man that wrote it sing the beautiful lyrics. Anyway, back to last nights event! There is a big time country music writer that has ties to this area and that is how we are so lucky to have an event like this come to our area. We didn’t get to go last year so we had been looking forward to the event for weeks. The writers that came were great and have written songs for Eric Church, George Strait, and Brad Paisley, just to name a few!

I opted to wear one of my favorite BCBGMAXAZRIA dresses. One of their signatures is flowy dresses that have a high low hem and I am a huge fan! They are so versatile! I wore this one to work yesterday with a pair of flats and changed into my trusty Gianvito Rossi botties(similar here) and added a fun blazer, also by BCBG, for the event. Not only do their dresses like this look great on but they are very comfortable and travel well. I accessorized with a Raoul bag, Dannijo earrings, and Eddie Borgo bracelets!

The writers that were at the event were not only uber talented but were also comedians! I am already looking forward to next years event!

After the event was over we headed over to Table 118 for a nightcap and some great times with wonderful friends! Happy Weekend everyone!!

New Designer Preview – Matison Stone

October 24, 2014

We just couldn’t wait to share with you some of the pieces from a new line we will be carrying at Mosaic this Spring called, Matison Stone.  Its best described as boho-chic and the collection is full of beautifully printed silk blouses and dresses.  If you are a fan of Tolani then this is a line you will certainly love!  The silhouettes are whimsical yet practical and the pieces are easy to wear for any age.  Here is a sneak peak of some of our favorite pieces from the Spring 2015 Collection and they will be available starting February 2015.

The Liza Kimono is such a statement piece and can be worn so many different ways.  Its perfect for transitioning into Spring and Summer with sleeveless dresses and tops.  You could wear this with pretty much anything in your closet!  While its still cold I think it looks fabulous paired with a long sleeved solid top underneath and some dark skinny jeans for a night out with friends.  When the weather warms up you can throw this on over a fitted dress for an extra layer.  The rich colors and luxurious silk make this kimono a piece you will want to wear again and again.

The Nicki Dress is the perfect boho tunic dress especially if you find that most like this are often too short for you.  I love the versatility of this dress!  You can dress this up with a pair of heels and jewels or keep it casual with flats or sandals.

Our favorite piece in the collection has to be the Jared Tunic in this beautiful and brightly colored design.  Honestly I think the blouse speaks for itself with the bold pattern and gorgeous silk fabric.  You won’t want to take this top off the minute you put it on!  It can be worn with anything from jeans to shorts and will definitely add some spice to your wardrobe.

We are all about a great maxi especially for the Spring and the Freya Maxi does not disappoint!  The amazing print and light blue background is something we haven’t seen before and the silhouette is so simple and flattering.  The dress is easy to wear with side slits, hidden pockets, and bra friendly straps.  You can easily wear this dress while running errands or at a summer wedding with just a change of shoes and accessories.

Hope you enjoyed this little preview of our newest line and be on the look out for it to hit the store in February!

Wavy Wonder

October 22, 2014

One of my favorite hairstyles that looks great on anyone are soft, loose waves! We see this look on celebrities and models all the time and secretly wish we could get our hair to look like that.  Well wish no more!! Here is our step by step guide on how to get gorgeous waves easily!  First let’s talk about the products and tools you will need to achieve this style – A bubble curling wand is crucial, it will keep the curls consistent. The one I used is by Verge and it is one of the best on the market!  Any hair brush will work, I used a paddle one by Spornette and hair clips to hold the excess hair back that you’re not curling at the moment are a must!  The products I used for this tutorial are all by Sexy Hair, Spray & Stay, Spray & Play, and H2NO, a dry shampoo.  These are fabulous products and smell amazing!

To begin you need to brush through all of your hair to get rid of any tangles and to smooth everything before you curl.  Start at the bottom of your head and work your way to the top with 1 inch sections, leaving the rest of your hair up in a clip.

Using your bubble wand start curling section by section making sure you are curling away from your face, not towards it.  Leave about an inch to an inch and half of hair out at the end past the clamp to keep the strands from looking over curled.

Keep curling the sections of hair until you reach the top of your head.

After all your hair has been curled let it cool so that the curls will set.  The longer you let it cool the more curl you will have.

After your hair is cool you can begin pulling your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls into waves.

If your hair holds curl very well or you just want really loose waves then you don’t need to do anything else to it.  You can spray a little hairspray if you want at this point to make the waves last all day.  If you want Big Sexy Hair though then use a flexible or strong hold hairspray and lift the hair up while you spray under the sections of hair.  This will help keep the volume of the curls and give you more body.  If you want a looser wave you can use a brush to tone down the curls some.

To add volume and texture at your crown you can spray some H2NO Dry Shampoo at the roots of your hair and rake your fingers through your hair.

How simple was that? A lot easier than you imagined I am sure!  The beauty of this style is that the bubble wand does all the work for you!  This is a great style that you can wear for multiple days and refresh with some dry shampoo and hairspray.  You could start out with strong curls and then by a couple days they are softer, looser waves.

Blue Beauty

October 21, 2014

As soon as this dress arrived in the store I knew I had to try it on, the color and shape are spectacular!  Cobalt blue is such a huge color this season and what better way to showcase it than with an amazing cocktail dress?  Nanette Lepore does not disappoint with her a-line Festival Dress.  The criss cross detailing on the back makes this dress appealing from all sides.  A structured silhouette and full skirt makes this dress ultra flattering.  The fitted bodice shrinks your waist right before your eyes.  Luxe, ribbed fabric gives the dress added texture and structure and is so comfortable.  This dress also has side slant pockets perfect for holding the essentials for a night out.  A jewel encrusted clutch by BCBG can hold anything else I might need and the handle can take the place of a cocktail ring.  The Raz heel by Rebecca Minkoff is my favorite heel this season so far and I am wearing it with everything I can.  It is so comfortable and adds a edgy touch to such a feminine dress.  I accessorized this fabulous dress with sparkling jewels by Dannijo.  The dangling Ariel Earrings were perfect with my hair pulled back and I chose to layer two chokers together, the Aspen on top of the Whistler to really make a statement.  Their jewelry is a no brainer, you can wear it for a cocktail party or just every day with a t-shirt and jeans.  The pieces are so stunning and easy to wear, you will reach for them for years to come.

Hot Pink Pizzazz

October 18, 2014

It’s hard to believe that the Holiday shipments are already starting to arrive.  There’s something about the glitz and sparkle that gets me excited for the Holiday season.  Hunter Bell always has a stellar Holiday collection and this outfit is a testament to that.  The Rena skirt by Hunter Bell is a classic midi length that she carries from season to season.  It has a silhouette that is flattering on just about everyone and not to mention the fabulous Hot Pink color!  I mean what girl doesn’t love to wear hot pink?  The black leather trimmed waist gives the skirt some edge.  This is a great piece to add to your wardrobe especially if you’re not ready to commit to a full leather skirt.  A sequined crop top is the perfect compliment to this midi skirt.  I love how the short top balances the longer length of the skirt.  The Mimi top by Hunter Bell  has a mixture of different sized sequins that are shiny and matte.  These Rebecca Minkoff Raz Heels are the must have heel for this season!  The black leather and suede shoe has the right balance between classic and edgy.  If you haven’t tried Rebecca Minkoff shoes yet you are missing out!  These are the most comfortable heels you will ever own and will be able to dance the night away at any holiday party you have this winter!  To finish the look I added a sparkly pair of Dannijo earrings and a Raoul clutch in black pony hair and leather.  Every eye will be on you when you walk in to the room wearing this look and you will want to wear this again and again.

Next Level Leather

October 14, 2014

Every girl needs a leather jacket in her closet. It is one item that you can own that will never go out of style.  This is a staple piece to invest in and it will stand the test of time.  Fit and quality are the two most important factors when choosing a leather jacket.  You want a jacket that fits you impeccably and a color that you can wear with almost anything.  Black or tan are safe choices because you can pair them with pretty much anything you already have in your closet.  There are so many options out there when choosing a style so take your time to find one that fits your personal taste.  It is a wardrobe essential in my opinion, from instantly adding a cool factor to a cocktail dress, edging up a feminine dress, or simply giving you the whole “I just threw this on” look with jeans and a t-shirt.  You will get a lot of wear out of a leather jacket so think about the cost per wear measurement when deciding on how much you want to spend.

Nicole Miller killed it this season with her Quilted Leather Jacket!  The subtle quilted chevron pattern adds texture and dimension to this sleek black jacket.  The structured silhouette, mandarin collar, and double slider zipper makes this a unique piece.  For the first look I paired this jacket with an amazing silk maxi skirt by Malene Birger and a Bella Dahl black t-shirt.  Black and tan suede heels by Schutz and a sparkling bib necklace by Dannijo make this outfit perfect for date night.  I love the cool, rocker vibe of this look. Ever since our trip to New York I am obsessed with everything black.  This jacket elevates a simple t-shirt and skirt combo to a whole other level of chic.

Leather jackets and jeans are the perfect combination.  Throw on a colorful silk blouse and you have a quick and pulled together look in no time.  The quilted leather jacket adds some edge to this flowy Abstract Floral blouse by Waverly Grey and blue pair of Luxe Sateen J Brands.  If you haven’t tried a pair of J Brand’s Luxe Sateen pants you are missing out!  These are the most comfortable skinny jeans you will every try on.  They are so soft and come in so many brilliant colors.  This is an outfit you can mix and match so many different ways with what you already have in your closet and look fabulous!

A leather jacket over a cocktail dress is the epitome of cool.  The Nicole Miller Baba Fringe Dress is instantly transformed from your typical sparkly cocktail dress into something edgier and cool.  You can zip up this jacket to make the outfit more sleek and polished or leave it open with the sleeves rolled up for a more relaxed look.  It is amazing how you can throw a leather jacket over a dress and completely change the feel of the outfit.  I love the look of very feminine dresses with lace and ruffles juxtaposed with a more masculine and edgy leather jacket.

A leather jacket is definitely a must have this fall and winter for your closet.  Don’t be afraid to choose one with embellishments, texture, fur, or color – let your personality show through the jacket.  Make sure you find a professional leather cleaner to keep it looking nice, but a little wear will make it look even better over time.
