BTS Fall 2020 Market

March 11, 2020

A little less than a month ago I was in NYC scouting out all of the beautiful pieces for Fall 2020! Now that I have completed and written all of my orders, I wanted to share with you all a little behind the scenes look of everything I saw and did while in NYC for market. I was only there for 3 days so there wasn’t much time for play and my schedule mainly consisted of appointments, appointments, and more appointments. 🙂 Which honestly I love. Buying is one of my most favorite things about my job! It is so rewarding to see a whole season come together and to pre-buy amazing pieces with my wonderful customers in mind. Below are some of my favorite appointments and pieces that I saw. Enjoy and let the countdown begin!

Allude cashmere is always a highlight but always my toughest appointment. Take one look at the below color card and you will quickly realize why it is hard to make decisions at this appointment. There are so many amazing color options and silhouettes. I always have a hard time narrowing down my Allude order because I LOVE it all and I know how wearable their pieces are.

Below are a few on my favorites from Allude for Fall 2020. I love a great turtleneck and the one below was such a great weight. I ordered it in this pretty green color but also ordered it in hot pink! How fun will that be? The other two sweaters I kept neutral and I loved them because of their detailing. These are the types of sweaters you reach for over and over again and will live in all Fall/Winter!

Another favorite appointment is Red Valentino. They never disappoint and for Fall 2020 they took their outerwear game to a whole new level. I ordered a good bit of coats/jackets with them because they were all so beautiful and classic. How gorgeous are the below pieces? I am a sucker for a gorgeous red jacket. I have one by Red Valentino that I have had for over a decade and still love it. I thought the middle coat and the pink/purple colorway would be such a pretty pop of color during the cold weather months. Annnddd can we have a moment of silence for this tan leather trench? It is a little pricey and definitely an investment piece but it was too killer not to order.

The below lavendar lace trench coat was another jaw dropper. This piece might be one of my favorites from this market.

Red Valentino always does great capes and I love that this season they incorporated a fun pleating on the entire backside of the cape! So interesting and dramatic!

Ulla Johnson is always at the top of the list market after market and Fall 2020 was no exception. Animal print is going to remain big for the Fall which you all know I am thrilled about. Ulla always has the most gorgeous fabrics. The middle dress is actually a super soft knit and I ordered it in 3 colors. The green dress is made from an Italian fabric that is out of this world.

Ulla also did this purple colorway in the Italian fabric and I literally died over every piece in this group. I ordered both colors and various silhouettes for the store so be prepared to be wowed when these pieces arrive later this year!

I always love Saloni and their prints. Below were just a few of my favorite dresses by them for Fall 2020.

Zimmermann is one of my favorite designers that I carry at Mosaic because of its romantic and feminine aesthetic. It was so pretty for Fall and the jumpsuit below was so amazing. It is a deep purple velvet, double breasted, and has a flare leg. What more could a girl want? They always have the most flattering jumpsuits and I know this one is going to be stunning on whoever the lucky girl is who snags it when it comes in.

Zimmermann had A LOT of animal/exotic prints and I was literally like a kid in a candy shop viewing this collection. Below are two amazing and versatile dresses and a matching blouse and pants set.

L’Agence is a new line at Mosaic but has quickly become one of my favorites. The fit of their pieces is like no other and that is such a hard thing to do! I especially love their blazers and I clearly loved all the variations they had for Fall. All of the styles below will be arriving later this year.

Their Kenzie double breasted blazer is my favorite cut and they offered it in LEATHER (gasp)! I loved it in the black but opted to get it in the softer cognac color. How gorgeous is this going to be? I may or may not have ordered one of these for myself:)

I saw a good bit of new potential lines and am excited to introduce you all to the 3 new additions we will have at Mosaic this Fall. The first is Ba&sh. They had so many amazing dress (Y’all know I love a good easy dress) and some of the cutest knits.

I have been on the search for a great special occasion line that was well made but at reasonable price point and I found it. We will be welcoming ML Monique Lhuillier this Fall and I couldn’t be more excited. They had some truly stunning pieces for evening wear and the prices were amazing!

The last new addition is Farm Rio. I am very very excited about this line. I looked at it last market but just couldn’t pull the trigger. Well after viewing Fall, I knew it was time to bring this line to Mosaic. Their pieces are very colorful, fun, and whimsical and are also an extremely great price point!

I am a creature of habit when it comes to the restaurants I like to frequent when I am in town but this trip I did try a new spot. I have been wanting to eat at Restoration Hardware’s rooftop restaurant strictly for the views and how beautiful it looked in person. This trip I was able to meet a great friend there for dinner one night and it was awesome! I have been to several Restoration Hardware locations and they are all stunning. I could move right in. This meatpacking location has an amazing glass elevator that scales the height of the entire building…. GOALS!

You take the elevator all the way up and you walk out and are greeted with the below view. It definitely speaks my language and has such a cool vibe.

Aside from the decor, the food was really good. We sipped on bellini’s and started with the burrata appetizer. We couldn’t decide on entree’s so we decided to split the burger and the lobster roll which was perfect and so tasty. The truffle fries obviously weren’t too shabby either. I will leave you with these mouth watering pictures and hope you enjoyed seeing a sneak peek into all the goodness that is to come for Fall 2020! Until next market!

California Dreaming

August 2, 2018

It has just been a little over a week since I returned from my amazing trip to California wine country. To say it was amazing would be an understatement! I have never been to California and was blown away at how beautiful it was and the weather is all it is cracked up to be. I could get use to the no humidity thing! Our trip was full of gorgeous views and amazing wine and food! I was thrilled to get to wear some of the great pieces we have in the store and they fit in perfectly amongst the beautiful backdrop.

DAY 1

Our first day was predominantly a travel day but because of the time difference it was only around noon when we arrived in Los Olivos. Los Olivos is about 45 minutes north of Santa Barbara. My in-laws, who were so sweet to bring us on this trip, said that the Central Coast region (where we were) is what Napa was 30 years ago. It is much less developed and a lot less people (just my speed) but has amazing vineyards. The house where we stayed was to die for and had an infinity pool/hot tub overlooking the most gorgeous scenery. My husband and I had our coffee every morning in the hot tub while taking in the views (something else I could get use to)! The first night we went to an amazing italian restaurant called S.Y. Kitchen. This was probably my favorite meal and I had the most delicious fresh pineapple and basil mojito ( ok….I actually had 2, they were that good). I wore one of my favorite pieces in the store right now, Zimmermann’s Laelia High Neck Floral Dress. It is a lightweight linen fabric and features the most beautiful color palette. It is my favorite length – a midi – and has such a romantic feel that only seemed appropriate given the setting! I paired it with some fun Sachin and Babi earrings, a Jerome Dreyfuss Remi bag and a pair of Rachel Zoe heels I have had for a couple years that are comfortable and look great with everything!

DAY 2

We started day 2 at Firestone Vineyard (remember Andrew Firestone from the Bachelor?…his family started the vineyard). This tasting was a great way to start out the trip. We toured the facility and vineyard and they walked us thru the process of how wine is made and everything that goes into it! I learned a lot from this tasting and the wines weren’t so bad either! I wore an Ulla Johnson dress with a Rag and Bone hat and casual black strappy Aquzzura sandals. I wanted to dress up but also wanted to be comfortable and this was the perfect dress to achieve both. I knew this dress would transition perfectly later in the day when it was time to get dinner. I paired it with another Jerome Bag (I can’t get enough of his bags) and my trusty Lizzie Fortunato Modern Craft Earrings that I wear with everything and some Le Specs sunglasses.

Next we headed to my favorite tasting of the trip at Gainey Vineyard. There we did a blindfold challenge where we had to rely solely on taste and smell to identify white wines from red and then more specifically what types of each. We all had such a great time with this one and my husband was the only one who got all of the wines right (we are a wee bit competitive with each other so this pains me to even type that statement haha).

Day 3

On our third day we went to Rusack Vineyard and this was by far my favorite vineyard we visited on the trip. They had the most gorgeous sitting area with the most phenomenal views. We were able to sit and relax and take it all in while we did the tasting. This is a spot that locals love to come to and on Saturdays you can bring your own lunch and sit for hours sipping on vino and taking in the scenery. If I lived in this area I would definitely be a regular! I wore another super romantic Zimmermann dress and instead of wearing the matching tie belt I added some contrast with one of Lizzie Fortunato’s fabulous belts. I opted for my Modern Craft earrings again (they go with EVERYTHING and don’t hurt my ears even after wearing them all day) and slipped on some Free People sandals that have the perfect height heel. And shocker….I carried another Jerome bag. This one is a pretty pink hue.

DAY 4

On our last day we decided to head farther North to Paso Robles, a place that is special to my husband and I. This is the place where our 5 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Deacon, was born. Several years ago we took a weekend trip to Asheville to celebrate my birthday. We were at a neat wine bar and my husband saw they had a Brochelle red zinfandel on the menu from Paso Robles. Because we had gotten Deacon there he decided to order a glass. We both took a taste and instantly it became one of our favorite wines and still is to this day. We figured since we were going to be so close to the area we had to make a day trip to their tasting room. It was great and we got to try some of their other wines which were also very good. On our way back to the house we stopped in Pismo Beach to eat lunch. I have never seen the Pacific Ocean in person so I had to document! Since I knew we would be in the car a good bit I decided to wear this super comfortable Zimmermann jumpsuit. It comes with a self tie but I wore it flowy with no tie which added to the comfortability. I paired it with the same Lizzie earrings I wore almost everyday, my Aquazzura flats, Rag and Bone hat and the green leopard Remi bag by Jerome Dreyfuss.

It was such an amazing time with family in this beautiful place and I will cherish the memories made forever! Now, excuse me while I go daydream about that pool and those views!

Travel Essentials

July 19, 2018

I am currently en route to California with only one flight standing between me and a much-needed fun family vacation! Normally, when I travel it’s for work. It is nice to be switching it up and going somewhere solely for fun. I wanted to share some of my travel essentials and things I do/wear/use the day I am traveling anywhere.

The first thing I always do is prep my skin before getting on a plane. My face gets very dry when I travel so I try to keep it as hydrated as possible. I use all the same products I normally do, I just add a couple extra steps of moisturization to ensure my face stays hydrated for the duration of the travel day. I start by cleansing my face with Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (1). I have recently started using cleansing balms and I don’t think I will ever go back to a normal cleanser. Balms don’t seem to strip my face of moisture or dry it out like some normal cleansers do. Next, I neutralize my skin by using Kopari’s Coconut Rose Toner (2). This instantly puts some moisture back into my skin after cleansing, and it smells divine! Then I apply an eye serum (3) (I am very generous with this step because my eyes seems to soak it right up) and a Vitamin C Serum (4).  Both by Dr. Dennis Gross. Next I apply Rose Hip oil by Naturopathica (5) to my entire face and neck. This is my favorite step. The oil feels so good on my skin and I feel this step is essential to keeping my face moisturized all day. I then follow that up with an Elemis Superfood Day Cream (6). I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup the day I am traveling so I opt for Nars’ Tinted Moisturizer. It gives the perfect amount of coverage and has SPF. I am a nut about sunscreen, so I double up on the SPF by using Supergoop’s Setting Mist with Rosemary (8). I keep my skin hydrated thru out my flight with Dermalogica’s Hydramist (9). This stuff is so refreshing and instantly makes my skin feel hydrated. Kopari’s Coconut Melt (10) is my go to body moisturizer the night before I travel, and pretty much every night while I am on a trip. It can be a little greasy, which is why I don’t use it during the day. At night though, it transforms my skin while I sleep. It is a game changer! Kopari also makes a coconut oil spray that is lighter and is perfect to use for the day.

Aside from prepping my skin, there are some other items that I keep handy while traveling. My husband recently bought me a three meter iphone charging cord. We always wish our charging cords were longer and this takes care of that problem.  It is especially great for the airport when outlets can be long distances away. He bought the pretty rose gold color (he knows me well), which is a bonus!

I also recently just got the Wireless Apple Earbuds and I am obsessed. They sync with my iPhone and Apple Watch, and come with a case that charges them in 15 minutes flat. I wasn’t sure how much I would actually use them, but I use them all of the time!

I follow the Skinny Confidential and love everything she posts about and recommends. She recently posted about Liquid IV and how she adds it to her water for optimum hydration. One bottle of water with Liquid IV equals the same hydration as 3 bottles of water. I am terrible about drinking enough water so I had to give it a try. So far it seems to help, and they offer some great flavors.

Comfort is the key when it comes to what I wear when I am traveling. In the warmer months, I love to wear a dress and no one makes a more comfortable dress than Rachel Pally! Not only does this one shoulder dress feel like a pair of pajamas, but it doesn’t wrinkle or have to be dry cleaned. Win – Win! I get cold easily so I always have a scarf with me. By Malene Birger does the perfect size scarf in my opinion. They are a great weight and she always offers beautiful prints. Both scarves below are available on our website and are on SALE! Lastly, I almost always travel in sneakers and we all know that Golden Goose is the sneaker king. My sweet hubby got me this leopard pair (you can never have enough leopard) for Christmas this past year and I wear them with everything!

These are just a few of the things I can’t live without when it comes to traveling! Next up, sipping yummy vino in California wine country!

Manus x Machina Exhibition

July 21, 2016

Last month I made a quick day trip to NYC to see several lines for Spring 2017. While I was there I was able to pay a quick visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Spring Costume Institute exhibition Manus x Machina. The exhibition explores how fashion designers have combined and are combining the handmade (manus) and the machine-made (machina) in creating haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear. The exhibition showcases more than 170 ensembles dating from the early 20th century to the present.

The exhibition was incredible to see in person and I could have spent hours and hours looking at each ensemble. I took pictures of my favorites so I could share with you all even though these pictures don’t quite do these works of art justice. If anyone is in NYC you should definitely try and see it. It is on exhibition until September 5th. See some of my favorites below!
