“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future….this is known as fashion week.” -Carrie Bradshaw
Bright eyed and bushy tailed, we arrived in the Big Apple this morning for the start of New York Fashion Week! It’s hard to describe the energy surrounding fashion week but it is exhilarating and something we look forward to every season! We kicked off the day at the BCBG show. This show always opens fashion week and has an impressive guest list. We have been eager to see what trends are going to be big for Spring 2016 and some that jumped out to us at BCBG were 1. Huge 70’s vibe 2. Pastel palettes 3. Lots of embroidery and texture.
Below are three of the looks we loved from the show!
After the show we headed straight to showroom appointments. Our first was with Eileen Fisher. This will be a new line for Mosaic and is the epitome of sophistication and togetherness. This line appeals to all ages and features silhouettes that would flatter any figure. Her Spring collection also featured a very neutral palette with pops of pastels through out.
We then arrived at Fashionhaus to view one of our favorites, By Malene Birger. Her collection featured gorgeous lace and eyelet and every piece had amazing texture. The collection featured some metallic touches as well as pops of tangerine.
No one does a scarf quite like by Malene Birger so we were thrilled to see so many prints and patterns to choose from.
The rest of the day consisted of viewing A.L.C., Equipment and Current Elliott as well as a new shoe line you all are going to FLIP over! We can’t wait to let you know what designer it is but trust us, it will be worth the wait!
While we were busy perusing Ready-to-Wear collections, part of the Mosaic team headed to Brooklyn to scout out something different. Later this Fall we will be introducing a specially curated home selection! We have brought on our trusted friend and talented home decor expert, Erin McEachin, to put together and find the best and most special selection for you all. Through out this next several days she will be visiting some amazing showrooms as well as visiting some of New York City and Brooklyn’s best vintage shops. We have no doubt she will find some amazing one of a kind finds for you all!
Nothing was more perfect for Erin to wear for a day in Brooklyn than the Equipment Mina Dress. Its easy, fun and flowy silhouette make it the perfect running around dress. Get the last one of these dresses here!

Tomorrow will bring another exciting day with some amazing runway shows in store. Check back tomorrow to see what we wore to the shows and what other amazing collections we saw for Spring 2016!
I have to admit to you all that I had all intentions of writing a recap each night we were in NYC to feature the great things we did and saw each day. However, between the weather and our non-stop schedule, by the time we got back to the room the only thing we did was pass out! With that said, this post features everything we did after day 1 in New York and has lots and lots of pictures! Hope you all enjoy!
We started day 2 in the BCBG showroom! We were greeted by these 4 lovely ladies and I am still dreaming of this colorful patchwork coat.
In the middle of the showroom was every look that went down the runway the day before. This picture doesn’t do these garments justice. The amount of detail on each of these outfits was breathtaking! See the full BCBG runway show here!
After Trina Turk we got to hang out with one of our favorites and friend, Hunter Bell. I had never been to her showroom so this was a treat! They do everything from design the line, create the samples, ship the line and show the line all under one roof! As always, it is great catching up with Hunter and her Fall line looks amazing!! It is my favorite collection by her to date!
I have never experienced weather as cold as it was on this trip. At one point I checked the weather and it said it felt like -15 outside! Yep…you read that right…-15!! We bundled up the best we could but I have to say I would be fine never experiencing temps that low again! After seeing BCBG, Trina and Hunter Bell we decided to duck into the place that always makes me feel warm inside….Bergdorf’s! When you step off of the elevator onto the 7th floor the smell is out of this world! We opted for the lobster mac and cheese(duh) and a lobster and avocado salad. For desert we had a chocolate molten cake and salted caramel gelato!
After that wonderful mid afternoon meal we headed over to the Lincoln Center for the Nicole Miller runway show! The Dark Forest collection was mythical and made us feel like we were in some sort of fantasy land. There were digitized forest and crystal prints and multi color fur detailing through out. The overall vibe for this show was very different from Nicole Miller’s past collections but we loved it!
Day 3 was full of amazing runway shows from Tibi, Mara Hoffman and Herve Leger. Tibi held their runway show at the Waterfront Building and the venue had so much character. The collection was full of minimalist knits in calm, cool colors and many of the pieces included fur touches and fuzzy detailing. We are thrilled to welcome Tibi to Mosaic for Fall 2015.
Mara Hoffman is always one of my favorite shows to attend! This show was no exception! She played with textures, embroidery, and gold beading to add just a hint of ’70s vibe to the collection.
Herve Leger’s show featured jacquard dresses peeking out under matching oversize bombers and was inspired by a recent trip made by designer, Lubov Azria, to Barcelona. This was the first time attending their show and the designs were simply breathtaking in person!
After a wonderful day spent viewing Fall 2015 collections on the runway we headed to the Elizabeth and James showroom! All we can say is fur, fur and more fur….and gorgeous fur at that!!
Day 4 started off with a bang at Tibi. After seeing the amazing runway show, I was very eager to view the full collection! They had the most cozy chunky knit sweaters that we wish we could have walked out of the showroom with. They also had one of the most gorgeous leather dresses I have ever seen! Expect to see this beauty at Mosaic this Fall.
Next was Giles and Brother and simply put we will be ordering 1 of everything! Their jewelry is so wearable but super unqiue at the same time!
Several blocks from Giles was Jerome Dreyfuss and their amazing wall of stunning shoes and bags! Pops of burnt orange and wine hues were scattered among the beautiful collection.
Our last stop was at one of our favorites, Megan Park. The Ready-to-Wear collection was obviously on point but she is now featuring home items and we couldn’t stop drooling!
Day 5 was designated for seeing lots of awesome jewels. We started off the day at Lionette! This line is a favorite of Hunter Bell and we are so glad she told us about them! There designs also make regular appearances on the CW’s Hart of Dixie!
Dannijo was next and they mixed up the collection for Fall by offering only all silver and gold pieces. We are use to a lot of color from Dannijo but we loved the more neutral collection. Don’t worry!! The pieces were still as amazing as ever!
We had to give y’all a peek of a cool section of their new showroom that is full of mannequins dressed in all of the jewels from past seasons!
Day 6 was our last day in the city and at this point we were dreaming of Carolina and warmer temps but still saw some amazing collections including A.L.C, Current Elliott, Equipment, Alice + Olivia and Rachel Zoe!
A.L.C featured a rad tie-dyed print and some gorgeous metallic lace! What a combo?!?
Alice and Olivia is always fun, flirty and unpredictable! The award for the most stunning coats definitely goes to Stacey Bendet and her Fall 2015 Collection!
Whew!! Our heads are still spinning and now we are off to the drawing board to put together an amazing assortment for you all for Fall 2015!! Stay tuned!
This morning, bright and early, we headed to the big apple to kick off fashion week!! Over the next week we will be seeing some amazing runway presenations and will be headed to showrooms to view Fall 2015 collections. Our schedule is slammed, but lets be honest, we wouldn’t have it any other way! We are viewing some lines that will be new to Mosaic and we are excited to share every detail of this trip with you all!!
We went straight from the airport to our first appointment….Vince shoes. We have been fans of their shoes for a while now and can’t be more thrilled that we will be carrying them at Mosaic. Their Fall 2015 collection didn’t disappoint and it is going to be a chore narrowing down our choices. While we were browsing the collection, we were pleasantly surprised to run into the fabulous Diane von Furstenberg! What a way to start the trip?!?
After Vince, we hurried over to the Lincoln Center for the BCBG Max Azria runway show! The show included rich colors, a plethora of embroidery and shearling touches through out. Our favorites included several statement jackets and oversized neutral turtlenecks!
The show itself wasn’t the only highlight! We ended up running into some of our favorite bloggers including Arielle of Something Navy, Jacey of Damsel in Dior, Aimee of Song of Style and Rachel of Pink Peonies!! They were all so nice and it was neat to be able to meet them in person!
Next was our appointment with Fashionhaus to view by Malene Birger and Allude. This is one appointment I always looks forward to and am never let down. By Malene Birger’s collection included pops of burnt orange, marsala and more neutral camel hues. Her oversized knits make us swoon!
Her scarves for Fall 2015 were on point. We are suckers for anything leopard print and she had some amazing color options available. How are we to choose?
Next came Allude! Their luxurious knits are like no other. Our favorites from the collection included, surprise surprise, these sweaters that feature a large graphic leopard print! Are y’all seeing a pattern here?
One of the coolest yet daunting things about Allude is you can pretty much pick any style sweater and get it in about 100 different color options. Narrowing down the colors is torture. Below is just a small fraction of the colors they offer!!
We finished off the day at Rebecca Minkoff! Her collection included bright pops of magenta, green and more fringe, which we aren’t complaining about!! We hope the fringe trend sticks around for a while!
After a day of running from one appointment to the next, we worked up quite the appetite! We headed to our trusty favorite Koi to load up on fresh and out of this world sushi! We started with the lobster tacos and proceeded to order quite the variety of rolls. You can’t really go wrong there!!
Tomorrow we will view full Fall collections for BCBG, Trina Turk, M. Missoni, Hunter Bell and will finish off the day at Nicole Miller’s Runway Show! Stay tuned!!
Last night I attended the second annual Writers in the Round event at the Bean Market in Lake City, SC. This kind of event is very rare for our area and I will tell you why. Typically a writers in the round event is comprised of the music industries best writers sitting around, telling how a song came about, and then singing it. These events normally happen in areas that have a thriving music industry, like Nashville for instance. If anyone reading this is a fan of the television show Nashville, then you are definitely familiar with the Bluebird Cafe. It has become on of the most famous writers in the round establishments. Night after night, they have amazing line ups comprised of some of country music’s most legendary writers. Tickets go on sale for each night and are literally gone within minutes! My husband and I were lucky enough to snag some tickets on a trip to Nashville earlier this year. My husband is a HUGE country music fan, so he was obviously very excited. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but we were both blown away! Just witnessing these talented writers talk about their inspiration and what certain songs mean to them was so moving! We ended our night at the Bluebird cafe listening to writer Mark Sanders sing a little song you may know that he wrote called “I hope you Dance.” It is one of my all time favorite country songs and it was SO cool to hear the man that wrote it sing the beautiful lyrics. Anyway, back to last nights event! There is a big time country music writer that has ties to this area and that is how we are so lucky to have an event like this come to our area. We didn’t get to go last year so we had been looking forward to the event for weeks. The writers that came were great and have written songs for Eric Church, George Strait, and Brad Paisley, just to name a few!
I opted to wear one of my favorite BCBGMAXAZRIA dresses. One of their signatures is flowy dresses that have a high low hem and I am a huge fan! They are so versatile! I wore this one to work yesterday with a pair of flats and changed into my trusty Gianvito Rossi botties(similar here) and added a fun blazer, also by BCBG, for the event. Not only do their dresses like this look great on but they are very comfortable and travel well. I accessorized with a Raoul bag, Dannijo earrings, and Eddie Borgo bracelets!
The writers that were at the event were not only uber talented but were also comedians! I am already looking forward to next years event!
After the event was over we headed over to Table 118 for a nightcap and some great times with wonderful friends! Happy Weekend everyone!!
Beautiful, crisp fall weather greeted us on our second day in the city. We took full advantage of the chill in the air and pulled out our favorite sweaters and booties. As you can see we obviously love our Rebecca Minkoff Alex booties and wore them the entire trip! They are literally the most comfortable shoe and great for walking around the city. We were definitely feeling the New York vibe and opted to wear black dresses by BCBGMaxaria that were great for traveling. I wore a Mara Hoffman leopard sweater cape from Fall 2014 and Leah wore a fabulous by Malene Birger cardigan. These were both easy sweaters to keep us warm while running around town.
Our first appointment of the day was with Elizabeth and James and it did not disappoint. The spring collection featured lots of pastels, matching separates, and cut outs. It had a very laid back, California vibe to it that the Olsens attributed to the fact they had been traveling to L.A. so much opening their new The Row store.
Issa was our next stop and it blew us away! The prints featuring horses were so unique and the colors were so rich. These were truly extraordinary pieces and captivating.
We ended our day of appointments at Nanette Lepore and couldn’t have asked for a better finale. You could feel summer in the showroom with the bright colors and prints. The collection was filled with yellow, aqua, and coral. It was hard to narrow down our favorites because we loved so much of it!
We treated ourselves to blowouts at the DryBar in Midtown. Their stylists worked their magic on our hair while we sipped champagne. There’s no better way to spend a Friday afternoon than getting your hair done! Leah got the Manhattan which was sleek and smooth and I chose the Cosmo-Tai which was a combo of loose curls and beachy waves.
I absolutley loved the products they used on my hair! Before blowdrying she sprayed the Texas Tea Volumizing Hair Spray on my roots. Then after she was done curling she sprayed the Triple Sec all over my hair to add volume and texture to my fine hair. This stuff was the best smelling product I have ever used! It has a fresh Vanilla scent that has lasted into the second day! What is really great about this product is that it texturizes, amplifies, and refreshes the hair. You can use this the second day to refresh your blowout and absorb any oil.
After getting our hair done we popped over to the BG Cafe at Bergdorf Goodman’s and may I say this is an exceptional restaruant! Their Lobster Mac and Cheese is to die for!
Leah got the Lobster Napoleon, a magnificent dish of lobster, fresh pasta layers, chanterelles and truffle butter. If you love lobster then this is the perfect dish!
I chose the Chicken Milanse which was a parmesan crusted chicken breast topped with arugula and tomatoes and fingerling potatoes on the side. This was a great light dish and full of flavor!
We strolled through Bergdorfs after lunch and drooled over fabulous shoes, clothes, and bags. It was the perfect place to end our trip before heading to the airport. NYC was amazing and we cannot wait to go back again!
Yesterday we arrived back in the bustling city to finish our Spring 2015 appointments. We were thrilled to be staying at the uber cool Empire Hotel. The hotel opened in 1923 and still has the original iconic sign. The design and décor of the Empire Hotel is very eclectic with a neutral palette of coffee, cream and caramel. The decor is a mix of modern and vintage and is accented by hand-crafted metalwork such as hammered bronze, brass and copper. All furnishings and fittings were custom designed for the Empire Hotel, making it truly one of a kind. We are sure this hotel rings a bell with all you Gossip Girl fans out there!
The Empire Hotel also has an amazing roof top bar that features awesome views of the city and the Lincoln Center. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed staying here and will definitely do so again in the future!
Our first appointment of the day was with a potential new designer for Mosaic. The Alexander Wang showroom displayed a very modern and edgy feel which was a great backdrop for his unique clothing.
Next, we switched things up and headed to the bright and cheery Diane von Furstenberg showroom. Her Spring 2015 collection included some of her classic staples as well as many new silhouettes and prints.
Our sweet DVF rep recommended that we go right around the corner and try out Rocky’s Restaurant for authentic New York style pizza. We never turn down a chance to have great food, much less awesome pizza! Rocky’s did not disappoint and their selection was extraordinary! We had a hard time narrowing down our choice to one slice.
After lunch, we headed to a much anticipated appointment at Lela Rose. She is originally from Dallas, TX and her feminine clothing shows off her southern roots. Her attention to detail is mind boggling and her fabrics are breath taking! Here are our favorites from her Spring 2015 collection.
Hatch showroom was our next stop. They house several current lines carried at Mosaic including Giles & Brother and Rachel Pally. Little did we know, we would be introduced to an amazing new jewelry line made in NYC! Auden is the perfect mix of industrial and feminine. We are already counting down the days until it arrives at Mosaic!
At this point in the day we found ourselves famished and in need of a great cocktail. Luckily, Isola at the Mondrian Soho was right across the street. This restaurant is gorgeous!! The beautiful chandeliers, glass ceiling and lush greenery create quite an elegant atmosphere.
The Mondrian Bellini and the Antipasta plate hit the spot. The cocktail consisted of Prosecco, white peach and raspberries! The antipasta plate included various meats and cheeses.
Our last appointment was viewing Jerome Dreyfuss! We can’t think of a better way to end the day than viewing a fabulous shoe and handbag collection. Dreyfuss is the husband of the very talented Isabel Marant. What an amazingly talented couple?!? Each of his handbags have male names because he states, “Every woman deserves to have a french man on her arm.” His bags and shoes are enough to make any girl swoon!!
Stay tuned to hear about all of the other great lines we saw on our trip!!
I am so pumped to be heading to New York City in less than 8 hours! It will be my first trip there and boy do we have a packed schedule. We will be seeing several of the lines at Mosaic and what they have to offer for spring 2015. I am anxiously waiting to see some of my favorites like Elizabeth and James, Giles and Brother, and of course Kelly Werstler. We will be staying at the Empire Hotel and if you’re a Gossip Girl fan like I am then you know how estatic I am right now to be there! My bag is already packed and outfits have been carefully selected, so now all that is left is to make sure my purse is filled with my essentials.
My first must have item in my bag is of course my phone with my favorite headphones by Yurbuds. These are made for women and fit comfortabally in my ears. I also love that they come in fun colors, I have the yellow and light blue, but they also come in pink and purple! I also use these when I work out and they don’t fall out while running! I can’t go anywhere without my day planner and a notebook to jot stuff down. I snagged the planner at Tjmaxx and the notebook at Target so they were great buys. Sunglasses are also a must when traveling and these by Dolce and Gabana are perfect! They are large so I can hide my tired eyes behind them and are kinda edgy so they will be a fab addition to any feminine outfit. You should always carry a compact with you to keep you looking fresh on and off the plane. The Stay Matte Pressed Powder by Clinque is my life saver these days. I also am bringing my favorite Blistex and Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm to keep me looking polished for our appointments. Remember that Tarte mascara I told you about the other day? I love having the small tube to keep in my purse for any necessary touch ups throughout the day.
Can’t wait to share with you more of our quick trip to NYC tomorrow and all the beautiful clothes we are going to see!
I am writing this post from 30,000 feet in the air on the way home from an amazing trip! It is hard to believe how fast fashion week goes by! Today we finished off the trip with some amazing showroom appointments! We knew we would be pushed for time at the end of the day and would have to head straight to the airport so we opted for comfortable outfits with layers. I am wearing a BCBGMAXAZRIA midi length dress with my trusty Valentino sandals and a By Malene Birger scarf. I accessorized with Giles & Brother hoops and a Kendra Scott fringe bracelet.
My amazing mother has been so great to capture all of my outfits all week! I loved her outfit so much this morning I made her pose for a couple shots! Her leopard trench is by La Prestic Ouiston, an amazing line made completely from vintage scarves. She loves to wear her BCBGMAXAZRIA leggings while traveling because they are so comfortable and are a little thicker than normal leggings. She finished off the look with the Rebecca Minkoff Jules satchel.
How cute is she? She is a natural!!
Our first appointment was with BCBGMAXAZRIA! I love this line because it is effortless, easy and almost any age can wear it! Their Spring 2015 prints were great!
They also have great handbags and clutches. They are a great price and are great quality!
Next up was our favorite, Mara Hoffman! Her showroom is the coolest! It is covered in Turkish rugs and cacti and feels like a bit of an oasis from the bustling city. The line looked amazing! (No surprises there!)
We headed down to the Meatpacking district after Mara for our Dannijo appointment. This appointment is always ones of my favorites and I have a very hard time narrowing down what I am going to order for the store. Check out these amazing color combinations!
They have also started designing handbags. They are Italian leather and are embellished with beautiful jewels and hardware.
Our final stop of the trip was Rebecca Minkoff! The color palette for her Spring 2014 collections included some beautiful icey hues and some bold pops of color as well!
We couldn’t leave the city without a quick stop at the Laduree store. We had a hard time deciding what flavors and walked away with 18 macaroons in hand. My plan is to give some to my husband when I get home but I am hoping they last that long!
A mosaic is a work of art created by assembling beautiful pieces of brightly colored materials, such as glass, metals or stone, to create an image. Mosaic is an upscale contemporary women’s boutique that draws its inspiration from the fundamental lesson communicated by these pictures made from bits and pieces — that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. Whether you’re assembling a single outfit or an entire wardrobe, we can help you find just the right pieces and make sure they work together to create the image you want to project. Read more....
