Last month I made a quick day trip to NYC to see several lines for Spring 2017. While I was there I was able to pay a quick visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Spring Costume Institute exhibition Manus x Machina. The exhibition explores how fashion designers have combined and are combining the handmade (manus) and the machine-made (machina) in creating haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear. The exhibition showcases more than 170 ensembles dating from the early 20th century to the present.
The exhibition was incredible to see in person and I could have spent hours and hours looking at each ensemble. I took pictures of my favorites so I could share with you all even though these pictures don’t quite do these works of art justice. If anyone is in NYC you should definitely try and see it. It is on exhibition until September 5th. See some of my favorites below!

All of the chilly temps lately have us dreaming of warmer weather and wearing easy breezy Resort/Spring styles. One of my favorite designers for warm weather is Megan Park. She always has amazing prints and her pieces are so effortless and easy to wear. Take a peek below at some of the pieces from her fabulous Resort collection that are in store now! Shop all of the looks here!
We absolutely love the Maui Print that is featured in this next outfit. The colors are vibrant and fun and the pattern looks like it was hand drawn on this halter top giving it a whimsical feel. We paired the blouse with a great fitting pair of J Brand skinny jeans. We cuffed the jeans to give it a casual feel and paired it with a pair of Jerome Dreyfuss heels (they are on super sale right now). We finished it off by layering multiple black beaded necklaces.
The next dress could double as a great cover-up on your next vacation. The beautiful floral hand embroidered detailing at the top of the dress give it a real richness! To make this dress more appropriate for cooler weather we styled it with a pair of Rebecca Minkoff suede fringe booties. We added a great cuff by Dannijo and earrings by Kendra Scott.
We love the Maui print so much we had to show you another style that features the gorgeous print. This maxi is what dreams are made of! What isn’t there to love about this dress? We paired it with these super fun and flirty earrings that were made to go with this maxi!
Every shipment of Mara Hoffman brings a little sunshine with it! Our most recent Resort shipment was definitely no exception! The great prints, color combinations and unique silhouettes had us drooling with each piece we pulled out of the box. Mara’s inspiration for the collection came from a recent trip she took to Marrakech. The Moroccan landscapes, textiles and culture all played a vital role in influencing her vision for what Resort 2016 would look like.
I am always on the search for a great dress! One that is not too fitted or flowy, not too casual or too dressy and one that is current and trendy but also refined at the same time! This is no easy task and is actually quite hard to find. Well….leave it to BCBG to continue meeting my dress needs. The Maris dress arrived yesterday and passed my entire dress checklist with flying colors. The bold ombre feather print is fun and funky but is balanced perfectly with the pops of poplin on the collar and cuffs. It looks cute and appropriate for day with a pair of simple flats but also looks amazing styled with a pair of over the knee Vince boots for a dressed up feel. BCBG continues to master the art of practical but relevant dressing and I am oh so thankful. Shop our entire new shipment of BCBG here!
Rachel Zoe never ceases to amaze us with her ability to transform a simple black dress into something magnificent. Her pieces exude luxury and sophistication and the Volkov dress is no exception. This Tuxedo dress is perfectly tailored and can be worn several different ways. This menswear inspired piece is double breasted and features a button front closure and front flap pockets. The subtle v neckline balances the mini length of the dress. If the length is too much for you, a pretty slip would give you more coverage. A slip with a lace hem peeking out would add the ideal amount of femininity to this masculine piece. Another option would be to wear a pair of pants underneath like we have seen several celebrities sporting down the red carpet recently. With any of these looks a killer pair of heels is key, you can introduce a pop of color with the shoe or keep it sleek with a black pair of stilettos. For the upcoming Holiday season a plum lip is fierce or you can keep it classic with a red lip. Erin gave this look some edge by pairing the dress with a chunky heeled bootie and DannijoRoxanna cuff. This versatile piece can even be worn open as a tuxedo style jacket with a delicate cami underneath.
“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future….this is known as fashion week.” -Carrie Bradshaw
Bright eyed and bushy tailed, we arrived in the Big Apple this morning for the start of New York Fashion Week! It’s hard to describe the energy surrounding fashion week but it is exhilarating and something we look forward to every season! We kicked off the day at the BCBG show. This show always opens fashion week and has an impressive guest list. We have been eager to see what trends are going to be big for Spring 2016 and some that jumped out to us at BCBG were 1. Huge 70’s vibe 2. Pastel palettes 3. Lots of embroidery and texture.
Below are three of the looks we loved from the show!
After the show we headed straight to showroom appointments. Our first was with Eileen Fisher. This will be a new line for Mosaic and is the epitome of sophistication and togetherness. This line appeals to all ages and features silhouettes that would flatter any figure. Her Spring collection also featured a very neutral palette with pops of pastels through out.
We then arrived at Fashionhaus to view one of our favorites, By Malene Birger. Her collection featured gorgeous lace and eyelet and every piece had amazing texture. The collection featured some metallic touches as well as pops of tangerine.
No one does a scarf quite like by Malene Birger so we were thrilled to see so many prints and patterns to choose from.
The rest of the day consisted of viewing A.L.C., Equipment and Current Elliott as well as a new shoe line you all are going to FLIP over! We can’t wait to let you know what designer it is but trust us, it will be worth the wait!
While we were busy perusing Ready-to-Wear collections, part of the Mosaic team headed to Brooklyn to scout out something different. Later this Fall we will be introducing a specially curated home selection! We have brought on our trusted friend and talented home decor expert, Erin McEachin, to put together and find the best and most special selection for you all. Through out this next several days she will be visiting some amazing showrooms as well as visiting some of New York City and Brooklyn’s best vintage shops. We have no doubt she will find some amazing one of a kind finds for you all!
Nothing was more perfect for Erin to wear for a day in Brooklyn than the Equipment Mina Dress. Its easy, fun and flowy silhouette make it the perfect running around dress. Get the last one of these dresses here!

A mosaic is a work of art created by assembling beautiful pieces of brightly colored materials, such as glass, metals or stone, to create an image. Mosaic is an upscale contemporary women’s boutique that draws its inspiration from the fundamental lesson communicated by these pictures made from bits and pieces — that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. Whether you’re assembling a single outfit or an entire wardrobe, we can help you find just the right pieces and make sure they work together to create the image you want to project. Read more....
