Matching Set

July 2, 2014

Getting dressed in the summer can be quite the challenge especially when you live in the South.  Between the heat and the humidity you feel like you’re walking around in a sauna all day.  How is anyone supposed to feel cute in that kind of weather? Typically I would say just grab a loose fitting, short dress to throw on to solve this problem, but let me introduce you to another option this season: the shorts suit.

This is a fool proof way of dressing in these hot summer months – a premeditated outfit that comes in a variety of prints, styles, and colors.  A shorts suit is the perfect way to look polished and stay cool this summer.  Its the ideal outfit because you can take the blazer off when outside in the heat and then put it back on once you’re inside in the air conditioning.  No more melting outside and then freezing inside!  Pair it with a great tank top and shoes and you are good to go! If you choose a suit in a bold print, keep your blouse and hair sleek and minimal to serve as the backdrop.

There are many matching sets out there you can purchase or you can create your own look by mixing and matching shorts and blazers together.  I chose to mix this Waverly Grey Georgia Jacket with these Sachin + Babi Marie shorts.  They were both a similar fabric and striped, but I loved how the jacket had vertical stripes while the shorts were horizontal.  You can wear this outfit with a simple black tank and sandals or you can wear them separately with other pieces you have. Accessorize this look with a great clutch! I love this BCBG black leather one for day or night!
Another great way to try this trend is with the Sachin + Babi Solange Top and matching Valerie shorts.  I love how you can wear this together for a great matching set look or you can wear them separately.  These are great pieces to add to your wardrobe and will mix and match well with other pieces you already have.
