Sporty Chic

June 12, 2014

If you haven’t noticed already, one this years hottest trends is athleticism.  It is all about being sleek, minimal, and luxurious.  My must have piece this summer is the Jogger pant.  I love how designers are using luxe fabrics, embellishments, and bold colors or prints to balance out the relaxed silhouette of the pant.  It completely changes the look of the pant to something you could wear out on Friday night for drinks with friends.  The way you style the pant is important, I know that can seem intimidating but I have picked three looks that are perfect for someone wanting to dip their toes in the athletic trend.

These Elliot Lauren Joggers in Black will become a staple in your closet.  You can wear them with pretty much anything.  I wanted to keep this look classic so I paired them with a simple long sleeved top by 3 Twenty – the mesh inserts on the sleeves give it an edge and add to the sporty vibe.  Black heels and a black pair of Kendra Scott earrings finish the look – this is an easy look you will wear over and over again.

I am a huge fan of Hot Pink so when I saw these Magaschoni Joggers I knew I had to include them in this post.  They were the perfect choice to pair with this Sachin + Babi bomber Jacket.  This jacket is to die for!  It is made from velvet laced sequins.  This outfit is so bold you just need a simple top, jewelry and black heels to finish the look.

Bella Dahl makes some of the most comfortable clothes and these joggers are no exception!  This look is great for running errands, grabbing lunch, or shopping with friends.  I dressed the joggers up with this Trina Turk tank in a beautiful coral silk.  To complete the look I added a gorgeous Megan Park necklace and Nude Rachel Zoe heels.

Pairing these pants with a dressier top, heels, or jewelry instantly makes the outfit look elegant and effortless.  Now if the Jogger pant isn’t your style then these Trina Turk and Bella Dahl Track shorts are a subtle way to rock the trend this summer.  Pair them with a bold dressy blouse and heels and instantly you have transformed them into a sporty chic outfit.

If you are nervous about trying this trend start small with simple touches of athleticism until you get more comfortable.  Throw on this Bella Dahl Bomber Jacket over a dress to add a sporty touch.  Or try this Elizabeth and James Vivi top with a pair of J Brand white cutoffs.  You can just simply add a baseball cap in a cool print or color – keep it feminine though.
