We started off day 1 of market at the Coterie and it was busy, busy, busy! We saw almost 16 different lines and our heads are still spinning at how beautiful Spring 2017 looks thus far. Below are some of the highlights from the day!
Rachel Zoe never ceases to amaze us with her ability to transform a simple black dress into something magnificent. Her pieces exude luxury and sophistication and the Volkov dress is no exception. This Tuxedo dress is perfectly tailored and can be worn several different ways. This menswear inspired piece is double breasted and features a button front closure and front flap pockets. The subtle v neckline balances the mini length of the dress. If the length is too much for you, a pretty slip would give you more coverage. A slip with a lace hem peeking out would add the ideal amount of femininity to this masculine piece. Another option would be to wear a pair of pants underneath like we have seen several celebrities sporting down the red carpet recently. With any of these looks a killer pair of heels is key, you can introduce a pop of color with the shoe or keep it sleek with a black pair of stilettos. For the upcoming Holiday season a plum lip is fierce or you can keep it classic with a red lip. Erin gave this look some edge by pairing the dress with a chunky heeled bootie and Dannijo Roxanna cuff. This versatile piece can even be worn open as a tuxedo style jacket with a delicate cami underneath.
I fell in love with this Brooke blouse by Rachel Zoe the moment I spotted it on the rack. The delicious golden color and flowing sihlouette are incredible. Peplums are one of my favorite styles and are so feminine. This is a classic blouse with a twist that you can wear a number of ways. I styled it with a lacquered pair of JBrand skinny jeans in a rich blackberry color. The rich jewel tones are so on trend this Fall and I am obsessed with all of them. This outfit is great for a date night with your special someone and will certainly catch their eye. The sparkling Eddie Borgo Estate bracelets in a Champagne and Citrus color compliment the blouse well. I layered in one of his signature Cone Bracelets in Rose Gold as well. You can never go wrong with adding a Dannijo necklace to any outfit and the Whistler Necklace really makes this outfit glamourous. No need to lug your massive handbag while you’re out with your beau, the Ariana glass clutch by BCBG holds all of the essentials without the bulk. Finally, a great pair of black heels and some fabulous lipstick ties the whole look together.
Fall is finally here and surprisingly enough the weather the last several days here in SC actually feels like it! We love it! It is time to start putting away our trusty Summer go to’s and replacing them with cooler weather staples. The runways for Fall 2014 were filled with so many magnificent trends it was hard for us to narrow down our favorites. Here are our top 6 Fall trends.
Stayed tuned to find out more detailed ways to style these individual trends this Fall!
It all about animal prints today on the blog! Leopard is one of my all time favorite animal prints and is so on trend this fall. I love how people are calling Leopard the new black and treating it as if it were a neutral color. It truly is a versatile print that can be worn pretty much with anything so it is definitely a timeless print.
A great silk leopard print blouse is a must have in everyone’s closet. I decided to dress this blouse up with a silk pleated maxi skirt by Malene Birger and adding a Dannijo necklace. This is a stunning evening outfit that will certainly set you apart from the crowd. The great thing about this Equipment blouse is that you can wear this dressed up or down with a pair of jeans and boots.
I love the mod style of this Rachel Zoe dress and the leopard accent at the hem. It is such a simple, but striking look that can be worn so many ways. I styled it here with heels and a fabulous clutch by Nanette Lepore, but I can also see this dress with an elegant coat and boots. This is a dress you will reach for over and over again for years to come.
I love the fun, flirty feel of this outfit! This Diane Von Furstenburg sweater pairs perfectly with the BCBG aline skirt and by Malene Birger boots and hat. The gray metallic leopard print is different from what you normally see and the conservative cut of the sweater make this a timeless piece. I previously styled this sweater with jeans and sneakers so you can see the versatility of this piece.
A leopard coat is a must have for any chic lady! It transforms a simple black dress into a fabulous date night look. This La Prestic Ouiston coat is made from vintage scarves and pairs so nicely with this black BCBG dress and Megan Park necklace. I finished the outfit with this fur Raoul clutch and strappy heels.
Today was full of appointments viewing current lines carried at Mosaic as well as potential new lines for Spring 2015. We started the day at the Empire State building in the Rachel Zoe showroom. Her showroom was just as beautiful and chic as you would imagine. Also, Rachel just happened to be present getting her collection ready for the presentation being held tomorrow. It was very cool to see her in action!
Rachel Zoe’s Ready to Wear collection didn’t dissapoint. There were great pieces that featured beautiful chain detailing and it is very evident that midi length skirts and dresses will be all the rage for Spring 2015. She also threw a dash of animal print in there, which of course I have no objection to!
Her shoe collection was out of this world. I literally could take one of each style.
We then headed over to the 10 Eleven showroom! It is housed in a historic building in Bryant Park and has so much character. This showroom is home to many wonderful brands.
The first line we viewed there was Equipment. We just started carrying Equipment in the store and it has been uber successful! The silhouettes fit everyone well and the silk in thicker, therefore making it flattering and pieces that will hold up over time. They are truly investment pieces. Not to mention, they have the best prints!
These were just a few of our favorites!
Next up was Elle Sasson, a new line for Mosaic. It was whimsical and fun and featured some unique prints with intricate beading and embroidery.
I absolutely loved the presence of flamingos in the collection! How fun is this outfit?
If you get an up close view of the flamingo shorts you realize how detailed the embroidery is and how much work went into them.
Tanya Taylor, another new line, was beautiful and I loved the color combinations she used. Pops of bright flourescent orange were present in many of the pieces.
Here are a couple of my favorite looks from her runway show!
I had been looking forward to viewing A.L.C. and it was even prettier than I would have expected. Their graphic floral print was great and it is going to be very hard narrowing down the line. We loved so many things!
After spending several hours at 10 Eleven we had worked up an appetite! Luckily, the Bryant Park Grill was right outside the door. We snacked on a delicious desert and drank much needed coffees!
Our last appointment of the day was Nicole Miller! Her inspiration for the Spring 2015 collection came from some of her recent travels to Rio de Janeiro. There were many playful silhouettes and enticing tropical floral prints featuring shades of peach, jade and coral. Doesn’t this entrance into her showroom make you want to take a little trip?
My favorite looks from her Spring 2015 collection included these three!
Tomorrow will be our last day in the city…..until next week! We will end this trip on a high note by viewing Mara Hoffman, Dannijo and Rebecca Minkoff’s collections!! Stay tuned!
I love buying pieces that can transition from one season to the next. Right now I am eyeing all the beautiful fall lines coming out and craving some cooler weather so I can wear them! Luckily a lot of fall items can be worn right now and then later when the temperatures drops.
You can make any summer dress fall weather appropriate by simply adding a comfy cardigan and booties to keep you warm. Skirts are also an easy transitional piece because you can wear a tank or t-shirt with them in the warm weather and then just throw on a lightweight sweatshirt and boots for cooler temperatures. Brightly colored blouses that pop with white shorts can also be carried into the fall months by switching the white for dark denim or tan jeans. Scarves are also a great way to take summer pieces into fall, the key here is layering.
This Nicole Miller Ikat Dress is the perfect buy now wear now piece. The short sleeves and great color palette make it transition easily into Fall. Pair it now with the Rachel Zoe Gwen sandals and simple jewelry like the Kendra Scott Evan earrings. When the temperatures drop, throw on a statement sweater coat like by Malene Birger’s Cameliu Caridigan and a chunky shoe like the Rebecca Minkoff Alex bootie. Add some flair with this awesome python clutch.
This unique skirt by La Prestic Ouiston is a must have transitional piece for your wardrobe. You can take this skirt from one season to the next easily with a change of the top and shoes. Wear this skirt now with a simple gray t-shirt by Bella Dahl and neutral shoes like these Joie Nice sandals. Later in the season you can swap out the sandals for high heeled booties and a cute sweatshirt. Finish off the look with a little crossbody bag. (A side note on this fabulous skirt – it is made entirely from vintage silk scarves bought all over the world and then made in Paris. Oh la la!!)
A colorful silk blouse like this one by Tolani is timeless and can be worn year round. Wear it now with white denim cutoffs and an edgy pair of sandals like these by Rebecca Minkoff. As the weather changes you can throw it on with a tan pair of J Brand skinny jeans and an amazing pair of Rag and Bone booties.
Having pieces that can transition easily from season to season will make your life a whole lot easier. Next time you’re getting dressed think about how what you have on can possibly transition into the next season, don’t be afraid to think outside of the box!
