NYFW Fall 2015 Day 1 Recap

February 12, 2015

This morning, bright and early, we headed to the big apple to kick off fashion week!! Over the next week we will be seeing some amazing runway presenations and will be headed to showrooms to view Fall 2015 collections. Our schedule is slammed, but lets be honest, we wouldn’t have it any other way! We are viewing some lines that will be new to Mosaic and we are excited to share every detail of this trip with you all!!

We went straight from the airport to our first appointment….Vince shoes. We have been fans of their shoes for a while now and can’t be more thrilled that we will be carrying them at Mosaic. Their Fall 2015 collection didn’t disappoint and it is going to be a chore narrowing down our choices. While we were browsing the collection, we were pleasantly surprised to run into the fabulous Diane von Furstenberg! What a way to start the trip?!?

photo 2-25After Vince, we hurried over to the Lincoln Center for the BCBG Max Azria runway show! The show included rich colors, a plethora of embroidery and shearling touches through out. Our favorites included several statement jackets and oversized neutral turtlenecks!

bcbgspr15The show itself wasn’t the only highlight! We ended up running into some of our favorite bloggers including Arielle of Something Navy, Jacey of Damsel in Dior, Aimee of Song of Style and Rachel of Pink Peonies!! They were all so nice and it was neat to be able to meet them in person!

bloggersNext was our appointment with Fashionhaus to view by Malene Birger and Allude. This is one appointment I always looks forward to and am never let down. By Malene Birger’s collection included pops of burnt orange, marsala and more neutral camel hues. Her oversized knits make us swoon!

photo 3-21Her scarves for Fall 2015 were on point. We are suckers for anything leopard print and she had some amazing color options available. How are we to choose?

photo 4-19Next came Allude! Their luxurious knits are like no other. Our favorites from the collection included, surprise surprise, these sweaters that feature a large graphic leopard print! Are y’all seeing a pattern here?

photo 5-18One of the coolest yet daunting things about Allude is you can pretty much pick any style sweater and get it in about 100 different color options. Narrowing down the colors is torture. Below is just a small fraction of the colors they offer!!

photo 1-27We finished off the day at Rebecca Minkoff! Her collection included bright pops of magenta, green and more fringe, which we aren’t complaining about!! We hope the fringe trend sticks around for a while!

photo 2-27After a day of running from one appointment to the next, we worked up quite the appetite! We headed to our trusty favorite Koi to load up on fresh and out of this world sushi! We started with the lobster tacos and proceeded to order quite the variety of rolls. You can’t really go wrong there!!

photo 4-21Tomorrow we will view full Fall collections for BCBG, Trina Turk, M. Missoni, Hunter Bell and will finish off the day at Nicole Miller’s Runway Show! Stay tuned!!

Bag of Biscuits

January 28, 2015

Another great shipment of Rebecca Minkoff bags have arrived in the store this week and we couldn’t wait to share them with you!  All four of these pieces are in rich tan saffiano leather called Biscuit.  I mean how cute is the name of that color?  Each piece is accented with light gold hardware that just perfectly accents the creamy leather.  The Avery Crossbody is the best bag to just throw on and go.  It will hold all of your essentials without weighing you down.

Woodgrain Weekend

January 24, 2015

Diane von Furstenberg has spiced up some of our favorite silhouettes with her fabulous new print, Grain Shadow.  The McKinley Maxi showcases this fun and funky print in pink, blue, and citrus along with mesh panels and marbled colors.  It features a deep v neck and criss cross back that is easy to slip into.  The fluid silk fabric flows beautifully away from the body and is oh so comfortable.  You will never want to take this dress off once its on!  For Spring and Summer I can see this during the day with simple metallic sandals and a cute hat.  Then at night just swap out the sandals for a great pair of heels and some sparkly jewelry.  We are in love with the Livi earring by Dannijo.  The colorful ear jackets are so hot this season and make such a statement.  You can even pair the jacket with your favorite pair of stud earrings for a different look!

DVF has updated her classic wrap dress with the New Julian Two Mini in a playful shorter length.  The vibrant woodgrain printed silk jersey in pink just pops against any skin color and will brighten your day easily.  This is the perfect dress to pack for your next weekend getaway or night out on the town.  We added a Rebecca Minkoff’s Finn Clutch that can transition from day to night simply by removing the strap.

The Ireland Jumpsuit is a daring and unexpected look that would be great for your next cocktail party.  The gorgeous blue grain shadow print  is so chic with the dramatic keyhole neckline.  Dannijo’s Jovana earrings and Nellie Cuff add the right amount of edge to this sleek outfit.

The Gilmore Blouse is a must have in anyone’s closet.  The relaxed silhouette and electrifying chartreuse color will look great with any pant.  We paired this easy blouse with the Miles pant by Nell, a slouchy pajama style pant that you will want to live in!  Rebecca Minkoff’s Leo Clutch in Black Floral adds a little bit of funk to this sophisticated look.

Transitional Tribal

January 22, 2015

A comfortable dress that can easily transition from day to night is at the top of my must have list.  Nicole Miller has met all my needs with her Mercedes Dress made from stretch jersey.  I wore this dress last weekend while we were in Charleston for a day of meetings.  It was the perfect piece for the beautiful weather we had, and I didn’t even need to worry about wearing a coat since it has long sleeves.  The edgy black and white lumen print is not only flattering, but adds some spark to a classic color combination.  During the day I paired the dress with a super comfortable pair of over the knee boots.  I am loving the trend this year with these super tall boots and have been wearing them non-stop.  Fringe is everywhere this spring, from shoes to bags.  Rebecca Minkoff hit the trend perfectly with the Jemma Crossbody.  I absolutely love the fringe and grommet detailing on this bag and its a great size to carry your essentials without being weighed down.  The Miljas Hat by Malene Birger has become a go to of mine on days when I know I am going to be outside for awhile.  It instantly makes me feel more chic and polished.  For nighttime I simply switched out my boots for a pair of strappy heels and blue python printed clutch by DVF.  This dress will definitely be one you will want to wear a number of different ways because its so comfortable and chic!

Casual & Cool

December 4, 2014

This outfit just exudes cool girl to me.  This Joel blouse by BCBG has a very feminine silhouette with the ruffle detailing on the front, but the jeans and sneakers give it some edge.  We are big fans of J Brand jeans and we can’t get enough of the Luxe Sateen skinnies.  Like literally…we wear them everyday.  They come in a variety of colors seasonally, and look great with just about anything.  Another great thing about this blouse is that it can be easily dressed up with a Dannijo Imogen necklace.  The leather Seta sneaker by Rebecca Minkoff has cool girl written all over them.  The studs and zipper details take them to next level.  We finished off the look with a bright red lip and a great Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody bag.  Gray is definitely the it color this season and we are certainly loving it!

Everyday Boho

December 3, 2014

One of my favorite designer’s we carry here at Mosaic is Nanette Lepore.  Her blouses are by far some of my most cherished pieces in my closet.  The Wild Coast top is no exception, the beautiful silk patterned fabric just flows so nicely.  I paired this blouse with my black luxe sateen J Brands, I have literally been wearing these non-stop this season.  They are the most comfortable pants you will ever own by far.  Plus the black looks fabulous with just about anything.  I have worn these pants and my Alex booties by Rebecca Minkoff so much already, they are a great combination.  This is such an easy outfit, especially for work I can look put together and still be comfortable.  The Miljas hat by Malene Birger and these amazing sunglasses by Karen Walker keep the sun at bay while I am out running errands.  The Finn clutch by Rebecca Minkoff can also double as a cross body bag.  I adore the fringe detailing and the size is absolutely perfect to hold the essentials.  It doesn’t weigh me down while I am out and about.  This is definitely an outfit I will be repeating quite a bit this season.

Monday Bunday

December 1, 2014

Looking for a polished hairdo that doesn’t take a lot of work?  We have the one for you.  A low bun looks pulled together and chic without being overdone.  Start with curled or wavy hair to give the bun some texture.

lowbun1

Spray your hair with some dry shampoo to add texture and volume to your locks.  Section most of your hair up into a clip on top of your head.  Tease the remaining hair below to add some volume.

lowbun2

With a small section of hair, create a low ponytail at the base of the neck.  This will help provide some stability for the bun.

lowbun3

Use the rest of your hair to create a second ponytail on top of the first.  I suggest using two pony tails so that the bun won’t be weighed down as much if you just used one.

lowbun4

Smooth the top of your hair and begin to spin the pony tails around onto the base.

lowbun5

lowbun6

lowbun7

Let the bun stay full once you’ve finished spinning it around the base and secure it with bobby pins.  Work your way around the bun pinning it securely.  Make sure you take the end pieces that tend to stick out of the bun and tuck them into the bun with more bobby pins.  You want to secure the bun as close to your head as possible so that it doesn’t move.  Finish off with a light hold hair spray.

lowbun8

lowbun9

This bun is supposed to be relaxed and bit messy so don’t worry if you have some loose pieces, it will just add to the look.  This is a great hairdo for second or third day hair after you have had it curled.  Its perfect to hide dirty hair when you don’t have time for anything else.  We love this look for the office as well.  Stay tuned and we are going to show you how to create a bun for a holiday evening party!
