We started off day 1 of market at the Coterie and it was busy, busy, busy! We saw almost 16 different lines and our heads are still spinning at how beautiful Spring 2017 looks thus far. Below are some of the highlights from the day!
I have to admit to you all that I had all intentions of writing a recap each night we were in NYC to feature the great things we did and saw each day. However, between the weather and our non-stop schedule, by the time we got back to the room the only thing we did was pass out! With that said, this post features everything we did after day 1 in New York and has lots and lots of pictures! Hope you all enjoy!
We started day 2 in the BCBG showroom! We were greeted by these 4 lovely ladies and I am still dreaming of this colorful patchwork coat.
In the middle of the showroom was every look that went down the runway the day before. This picture doesn’t do these garments justice. The amount of detail on each of these outfits was breathtaking! See the full BCBG runway show here!
After Trina Turk we got to hang out with one of our favorites and friend, Hunter Bell. I had never been to her showroom so this was a treat! They do everything from design the line, create the samples, ship the line and show the line all under one roof! As always, it is great catching up with Hunter and her Fall line looks amazing!! It is my favorite collection by her to date!
I have never experienced weather as cold as it was on this trip. At one point I checked the weather and it said it felt like -15 outside! Yep…you read that right…-15!! We bundled up the best we could but I have to say I would be fine never experiencing temps that low again! After seeing BCBG, Trina and Hunter Bell we decided to duck into the place that always makes me feel warm inside….Bergdorf’s! When you step off of the elevator onto the 7th floor the smell is out of this world! We opted for the lobster mac and cheese(duh) and a lobster and avocado salad. For desert we had a chocolate molten cake and salted caramel gelato!
After that wonderful mid afternoon meal we headed over to the Lincoln Center for the Nicole Miller runway show! The Dark Forest collection was mythical and made us feel like we were in some sort of fantasy land. There were digitized forest and crystal prints and multi color fur detailing through out. The overall vibe for this show was very different from Nicole Miller’s past collections but we loved it!
Day 3 was full of amazing runway shows from Tibi, Mara Hoffman and Herve Leger. Tibi held their runway show at the Waterfront Building and the venue had so much character. The collection was full of minimalist knits in calm, cool colors and many of the pieces included fur touches and fuzzy detailing. We are thrilled to welcome Tibi to Mosaic for Fall 2015.
Mara Hoffman is always one of my favorite shows to attend! This show was no exception! She played with textures, embroidery, and gold beading to add just a hint of ’70s vibe to the collection.
Herve Leger’s show featured jacquard dresses peeking out under matching oversize bombers and was inspired by a recent trip made by designer, Lubov Azria, to Barcelona. This was the first time attending their show and the designs were simply breathtaking in person!
After a wonderful day spent viewing Fall 2015 collections on the runway we headed to the Elizabeth and James showroom! All we can say is fur, fur and more fur….and gorgeous fur at that!!
Day 4 started off with a bang at Tibi. After seeing the amazing runway show, I was very eager to view the full collection! They had the most cozy chunky knit sweaters that we wish we could have walked out of the showroom with. They also had one of the most gorgeous leather dresses I have ever seen! Expect to see this beauty at Mosaic this Fall.
Our last stop was at one of our favorites, Megan Park. The Ready-to-Wear collection was obviously on point but she is now featuring home items and we couldn’t stop drooling!
Day 5 was designated for seeing lots of awesome jewels. We started off the day at Lionette! This line is a favorite of Hunter Bell and we are so glad she told us about them! There designs also make regular appearances on the CW’s Hart of Dixie!
Dannijo was next and they mixed up the collection for Fall by offering only all silver and gold pieces. We are use to a lot of color from Dannijo but we loved the more neutral collection. Don’t worry!! The pieces were still as amazing as ever!
We had to give y’all a peek of a cool section of their new showroom that is full of mannequins dressed in all of the jewels from past seasons!
Day 6 was our last day in the city and at this point we were dreaming of Carolina and warmer temps but still saw some amazing collections including A.L.C, Current Elliott, Equipment, Alice + Olivia and Rachel Zoe!
A.L.C featured a rad tie-dyed print and some gorgeous metallic lace! What a combo?!?
Alice and Olivia is always fun, flirty and unpredictable! The award for the most stunning coats definitely goes to Stacey Bendet and her Fall 2015 Collection!
Colder weather doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice color this season! One of my favorite trends this season is brightly colored bags that spice up any outfit. Rebecca Minkoff, hands down has some of the best and most affordable leather handbags around. She has so many styles and colors to choose from so you can get one that fits your personality. The Leo Clutch in Ultraviolet is a fabulous little bag to take with you on a date or to a party. It will hold your essentials without weighing you down. I love the zipper detailing along the edges of the envelope shaped bag. This would be a great gift for the upcoming Holiday season and it comes in so many colors!
The Bowery Crossbody in this bright blue color has got to be one of the most beautiful bags I have seen this season. The contrasting black hardware gives the bag some serious edge and it is the perfect size to just throw on and go.
A pop of Hot Orange is just what you need to warm up any outfit this winter. The Mini Quilted Affair bag is such a classic bag and the brilliant color gives it a twist. The adjustable chain strap allows you to wear it as a crossbody or on your shoulder at different lengths. This little bag would make another amazing gift for someone special this Christmas. Keep checking our blog for more perfect gift ideas this season!
One of our favorite trends this season is the trippy prints that were seen all over the runways for Fall 2014. Bold and bright retro 60’s and 70’s psychedelic prints are everywhere and are actually very easy to wear. Stick to choosing one piece that will be the statement so that your look doesn’t get too busy. A statement printed blouse like the Crystal 2 Top by Trina Turk is a great way to dip your toes into this trend. The bold orange and fuchsia in such a fun mixed geometric print make this blouse really stand out. The blouse looks more relaxed by tying it in the front and rolling up the sleeves. We kept with the retro vibe and paired the top with a flared jean in gray by J Brand and some suede heels. A bright red pair of Kendra Scott studs finish this look by adding another pop of color. You can also wear this blouse to the office with a great pencil skirt and blazer, just let the blouse be the standout piece. A classic clutch by Rebecca Minkoff in Latte is a neutral handbag that will go with anything!
Who says you can’t wear neon in the Fall? The Mara Hoffman Tee Shift Dress is electrifying in neon blue, purple and green with a camel print that looks as if its made of neon lights. Gray boots by Malene Birger and a Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Bag in Neon Violet are the perfect accents. M. Patmos makes a beautiful fur snood that will instantly make you feel glamorous!
You will turn heads when you walk into the room wearing the Nanette Lepore Handloom Shift Dress. The magnificent print in pink and teal match perfectly with this amazing bib necklace by Megan Park. This look is minimal, but will certainly be one everyone will remember. This is a dress that you can style so many different ways and wear to so many different events. Throw on a pair of boots and a vest for a cute, day look or wear it with a blazer for the office.
This Fall don’t be afraid to reach for these brightly colored pieces to spice up your wardrobe. You can wear them just as you would wear your typical Fall colors and with them.
Several days ago, we posted about the amazing Trina Turk Frea pant. It features a beautiful Fall floral that has the most perfect color combination of gray, fuchsia, and orange! I started really thinking about this color palette and how drawn to it I was. When it comes to my house, I tend to sway towards a more neutral palette. However, I love to bring color in with my rugs. I realized after writing the blog, that my favorite rug in my house has this color combination!! I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what interiors I could find that featured this vivid yet amazing color combo. I was blown away at the creative and unique ways people had incorporated these colors into their homes. Here a just a small selection of the ones I found that I love.
Some of the rooms featured a clean crisp background with pops of orange and fuchsia while others decked the rooms out head to toe in these bright colors. I loved them all! Anyone that knows me well, knows that I have a bit of a pillow problem. My husband claims I am a “pillow addict”, and I can’t really disagree! I love pillows and think they are a great way to bring in color without over doing it!
If you are skeptical or using bright colors in your home, another great way besides pillows is a great rug or an accent wall covered in awesome wallpaper. I absolutely love a great turkish rug and think they can do wonders for brightening up a room. If you live in South Carolina or close by, there is an amazing place called Scarlett’s that has beautiful antiques and an unbelievable rug room. That’s right, I said ROOM! I have found some really cool turkish rugs for my house there and for great prices!
I also stumbled across some gorgeous table settings using these colors. Tell me you wouldn’t want to sit and stay a while at this table!!
Y’all can check out our Pinterest page for all of the great examples I found for using these colors and how to incorporate them into your own homes!
This wonderful chill in the air means one thing, its leather weather. A fabulous leather moto jacket is a closet staple for just about everyone and slowly, but surely another leather piece has been gaining popularity among wardrobes. Leather pants, or leggings have become the new cold weather staple because they are so versatile. They are an investment piece for sure, but you will get just as much wear out of them as you do your favorite leather jacket. A simple, slim fitting style is the easiest to wear in either a black or brown color. Make sure they fit properly because leather will stretch over time so you want them to be snug, but you don’t need to go down a size. The quality of the leather will determine the durability of the piece so you want to make sure you spend your money on a high quality pair that will last a long time. Don’t forget you need to find a professional cleaner that specializes in leather so you can extend the life of your pants.
You can style your leather leggings with just about anything like you would a pair of jeans or leggings. I’ve got four looks to show you to give you some ideas that will show you how truly versatile these amazing By Malene Birger Leather Leggings look with just about any top. For the first outfit we kept things simple and neutral by pairing the leggings with a casual By Malene Birger turtleneck, Rebecca Minkoff booties, and a Trina Turk crossbody. We even added another touch of leather with these fun Megan Park earrings. This outfit is a great go to look for busy days or traveling. You can even add a sweater or blazer for an extra layer on colder days.
Here’s a great look that rocks two of Fall’s biggest trends, leather and fur! This extraordinary fur vest by Elizabeth and James was meant to be paired with the leather pants. A simple long sleeved shirt by Elliot Lauren was the perfect backdrop for the vest and the length is perfect for leggings. This boho-chic look is another great outfit for the day to meet friends for lunch in or go shopping. The Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Affair bag is the perfect size to carry all your necessities in and still be lightweight. The strap is adjustable so you can wear it like a cross body or on your shoulder. I used the Alex booties by Rebecca Minkoff again to keep with the earthy tones of this outfit.
Leather leggings can also be work appropriate with the right blouse and shoes. I paired a Nanette Lepore textured cream blouse with a longer hemline and a fabulous pair of suede Schutz heels to dress up the pants. This tribal printed vest by Nell is the perfect addition to this outfit to give it some structure and more texture. The colors combine so nicely and really makes me feel like its Fall. A slouchy leather bag like this one by Raoul is perfect for work and running to meetings.
The last look I want to share with you is the ultimate chic and comfortable outfit. A cashmere poncho, like this one by Allude, with the leather leggings is the absolute perfect match. Its such a simple look but you will standout among a crowd. I accented the sweater with a gold and leather necklace by Megan Park, Rebecca Minkoff booties, and an amazing python clutch by Malene Birger. You could wear this anywhere and to anything. Just swap the boots out for heels for the night and you are good to go!
Don’t forget to find a professional cleaner that specializes in leather for a pair like this. You can extend the life of them by having them cleaning properly and get your money out of this investment piece! Can’t wait to show you more ways to style leather pants this season!
Who says you can’t wear florals for Fall? Definitely not Trina Turk!! She has created the most perfect floral pant with a beautiful Fall palette. The Frea pant features a great neutral gray background with pops of burnt orange and fuschia. We love to mix patterns so we paired the pants with a great shirt by Diane von Furstenberg and we finished off the look with a black and nude quilted Raoul bag. The color gray is everywhere this Fall and I am loving it, especially paired with this light, pastel pink. Pastels are huge for the Fall, which means you can get more wear out of your blouses from the Spring. Don’t you just love when you can transition pieces from one season to the next? I sure do! Rebecca Minkoff certainly nailed this color combination this season with her amazing jackets! First let me talk about her fabulous Ryan bomber jacket that is sporty and feminine at the same time. The tweed jacket has herringbone printed sleeves and pink accents on the collar, cuffs, and hem. You can throw this on with pretty much anything. I love pairing it with a sleek BCBGMaxazria pencil skirt and Zoa blouse to edge up your typical office wear. Sticking with the this vibe I added some edgy accessories like these Megan Park Floret earrings and BCBGMaxazria Minna metal clutch.
The Wes Moto Jacket is a flirty new take on your basic leather jacket with perforated blush colored leather. This soft color makes this piece more wearable by toning down the biker vibe. If you’re looking to invest in a leather jacket, this would be the piece for you. It is one that you could wear all year round, even in the summer since the color is so light. For Fall I decided to style this jacket with a simple french terry knit dress by Trina Turk. The form fitting dress is the perfect backdrop for this amazing jacket, Schutz heels, and Nanette Lepore bag.
Rebecca Minkoff nailed the definition of ladylike with the Finley coat. The light gray fabric mixed with accents of soft pink on the back, under the collar, and the lining make this coat look sophisticated and polished. A simple front zipper closure and two pockets blend nicely into the structured silhouette. I continued the gray theme by adding knee-high gray heeled boots by Malene Birger. This minimalist look is equal parts subtle and striking.
